481014 2006-08-29 08:52:00 Well so long as they work, that's all i care about....

Jen, i'm shocked, you lost your moderators icon thingy....
I think that the point Jen made was that they didn't work.
We buy the nice thick ones thinking we are getting a better dry, only to find we should have bought the thin ones, which seem to do a better job
One can of course do as one suggested, hang on the clothes line and drip dry,but I found it quite uncomfortable.

481015 2006-08-29 08:55:00 I've got some lovely Egyptian cotton towels that have been washed heaps of times now, soaked in Napisan, soaked in Vinegar and water, soaked in really hot water (not all at the same time mind you!) without any luck. They feel soft etc, but I might as well try to dry myself with a plastic bag all the good it has done. :dogeye:
Mrs T bought some lovely thick, heavy and expensive  towels from Smith & Caugheys a couple of years back and despite regular use and many washes they still don't absorb water. :annoyed:

I'm thinking of selling them to the Navy as auxiliary flotation devices in case one of their dinghies sinks.

Cheers

Surely this is a case for the small claims court,I hope you are not slipping B!
In fact we could have a class action?

Sadly Ciccy, Mrs T favours form over function, in fact we have a house full of functionless form (she calls it "design") so she is quite happy with the towels, despite that fact that in summer they can't even keep up with perspiration after a hot shower, so drying yourself makes you wetter!

Anyway, I've decided not to sell them to the Navy after all, I'm going to lease them instead, that way they get a right towelling!

Cheers

481020 2006-08-29 10:48:00 As anyone noticed how new towels don't seem to dry one as well as older ones?

Perhaps the surface area being dabbed has expanded over the years n'est pas? ;) You need a bigger towel. :D
