480629 2006-08-27 01:24:00 I'm on the same speed as everyone else here yet mine goes so much slower. This is gay! Fishy (10540)
480630 2006-08-27 01:32:00 it is probaly because of your distance from the exchange. The people who are getting 3+ megabit are probably really close to their exchanges. Greven (91)
480631 2006-08-27 10:04:00 My company (Ellerslie, Auckland area) is on 3.5mbps/512kbps for several months. I received a letter last week from Telecom telling me the office line is not a performing line and will not be able achieve the said speed. They want me to downgrade to a lower plan and will refund me the last few months that I was on 3.5mbps. No reasons were given but I believe it could be old equipment at the exchange. Does not wish to call Telecom as the recorded message said I may to wait for up to 30 minutes. Totally ridiculous for a billion dollar company to provide such a service.

Advice when subscribing to broadband - check and make sure that yours is a performing line before paying for a 3.5mbps. I beleive many others especially home users may not be informed of such thing as a performing line.

480633 2006-08-27 18:33:00 I am on IHug 3.5 plan. LIve about 6km from exchange.
Average download time over past three months would be about 3.0. Upload about 130

480634 2006-08-29 08:14:00 This speedtest looks great, however I am VERY skeptical about the results from this speed test.

Much like the old speakeasy speed test, the International results are woefully inaccurate (utterly useless for most people it seems).

The speed test to Auckland does not seem to cope with anything much over 4MB either, and is influenced by peak times (were my connection is not I mean).

Do not trust these results, do you own manual download tests from a know fast source and preferably multi source.

But unfortunately, this was done at 6.04pm, so this is at one of it's slowest - which sucks... :(
