I might give it a go, see how it compares to Delphi 5 and 7 but with my bandwidth all used, its gonna be a while before I test it.

482983 2006-09-07 01:04:00 It's a nice idea, but I think the lack of add-on ability would put me off - normally the first thing I install after Delphi 7 is a whole heap of VCL components (some written by me, some by others), followed by the indy networking components.

Also, do you know what version of Delphi it's based on? In my opinion, Delphi 7 was the last decent version - after this, they got really bloated and lost a lot of the user-friendliness of the IDE interface. Versions higher than 7 also seem to have a HUGE memory/cpu overhead compared to what 7 used.

482984 2006-09-07 02:02:00 Don't worry, Bletch, the versions are the earlier ones. They make their money by selling the new versions. ;)

It was version 2.0 of C++ that I got a year or two ago, I think, and the Turbo Pascal available on their "museum" site for download then was V5 or so.

Good products. I can't really be bothered with Delphi. I don't mind writing code, and I don't write code for Windows. :D
