482232 2006-09-07 09:19:00 Like all these things, there is a tendancy to take a stand one way or the other, without enough evidence in my opinion. Cicero (40)
482233 2006-09-07 09:35:00 Someone in 001's diatribe said, tax is a good thing, means we are civilised,or words to that affect.Any lefty would agree, but the thoughtful realise that too much tax is a disincentive.
So what is the answer?the answer is to tax land only. Why I hear you cry,the fact is,that the community create the value of land and therefore that value should be the tax that goes to the community.

Therefore as the Maori are getting more land back I would assume they will start paying tax on the land. Some tribes may own 1/8th of an acre each or even less. Within some tribes they can't even agree as I see it. It would be better in my view to agree to disagree.

Tax of some sort is going to affect all people here in NZ.

On radio today I heard Mark had gone to France to check out the justice systems and prisons or habitats. He had also gone off on a little trip as well.
I'm certain that this trip will cost me money via tax.

As I have never been in prison I have no idea what the conditions are like. I don't intend to start now by murder, theiving, drugs, driving in a dangerous manner etc.

482234 2006-09-07 09:52:00 @Cicero Hmmmm, good diplomatic answer, whilst I do agree that more evidence would be useful, I'm not sure what more could be presented, and as I say we will find out anyway, I think our path is already set by our nature.

We will be squabbling over the last material goods when the Sun goes nova in 5 billion years, if we are still here.

A land tax was mooted by Henry George and in my opinion after much consideration,is the only fair tax and if you go into it,related to natural law.
zqwerty would become a disciple if he were to turn his attention to it.

482236 2006-09-07 11:12:00 I studied economics (lower case deliberate) for a short time at University I know about land taxation being considered to be the only "correct taxation" by Right Wingers.

Try this Cicero, it will be right up your alley:

482237 2006-09-07 11:28:00 Hmmm, Henry George died aged within a year of the age that I am now, what a pity he grew up in a time when the true picture of the Universe had not unfolded. How these guys could be so sure about things when really they knew so little about reality just beats me. zqwerty (97)

Or, we could bring Adam Smith into the argument if you want to go the way of economics as to explain the function of order in the world through the eyes of the west, but I consider the work of John Nash, and others, in Game Theory to have surpassed early twentieth century socioeconomic models.

482241 2006-09-19 10:14:00 According to this guy (www.mega.nu), there is not really any one cabal or organisation, but a slightly more sinister version of "The Establishment" (www.mega.nu), that we have all heard about.

I have staggered through this thread, dumbfounded by the ignorance of most contributors as to what is really evolving in real world control when you take a centuries long view. The politics of the world have been changed from Kingdoms and royal decree to the pliable and corruptable democracies now common.
Elite groups like the Bilderbergers, Council For foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission and their like plan and pressure changes on a supranational level, above the level of countries governments. When one controls finance, trade and wars, it is easy to find sucker countries to do the dirty work.
The current antiIslam war was predicted in the plan for One World Order from the 1770's.
It's a pity more people didn't educate themselves on such matters rather than bleating in ignorance about conspiracies and tin foil hats.
