481755 2006-09-02 04:22:00 Yea I know but I only have 256mb of 133-sdram so it goes slow no matter what...

I see you have a non genuine version of windows...
Hmmm? What do you mean? What makes you think that I am running pirated Windows (and incidentally, I am running genuine version XP)?

Cheers :)

481756 2006-09-02 04:33:00 Oh, sorry.
It's just in your system tray there is the WGA icon, which normally means it isn't genuine.

481757 2006-09-02 04:39:00 Here's mine (www.imagef1.net.nz). No, it's not Vista, it's XP Home. :D

If that is what Vista is going to look like it is even more reason for me to not bother with it. :yuck: :groan:

Don't worry, I am not offended. :D

Oh, that. Well, I downloaded and installed it after I was tricked by Microsoft to believe that I will "receive exclusive updates". It turns out that WGA is just an eye-sore little icon sitting in the system tray doing nothing but sending data back to Microsoft regularly (I have had it blocked in SPF already)

And at the end of the day, what "exclusive updates" are we talking about here?

Cheers :)

And at the end of the day, what "exclusive updates" are we talking about here?Updates that are only available to legal versions of XP. I only thought that icon parked itself there if WGA thought the OS wasn't legal and it gave popup messages about that. Didn't realise that the WGA update put an icon in everyone's systray -- but then again I don't run Windows so what would I know! :p

Next time dad boots up our demo computer with Vista on it I will post a few screen shots of what Vista may look like.

There isn't an option in Add / Remove program to uninstall that little mischievous program. It is not listed under Windows services nor startup list. Although I know that there are plenty of advice on the Internet on how to remove it using force (and illegitimate ways), I had rather tug along with Microsoft's play.

Cheers :)
