481489 2006-09-04 13:19:00 C'mon Greg, if the wheels you like is at a good price and comes with a 3 yr warranty, why not buy it? If you're thinking about it all day, fact is, it's got ya... take it for a long test drive, get it tested thoroughly by a decent mechanic, and then work out how much it will cost to maintain- tyres/ alignments, servicing, the usual paperwork (insurance/ WoF/ rego), etc., and then double it just in case- hey, I was lucky for three years with my car, then had to spend $2k on wheel repairs, tyres, a new clutch and brake pads...

Thing is, if it has got ya so to speak, you will spend a fair while kicking yourself or at least wondering about it if you don't buy it, or at least check all the options before walking away.

BTW, check the warranty- some of them are not worth the paper they are written on!

481490 2006-09-04 13:39:00 I would be more inclined to follow the advice offered.

But the only Euro car I have ever owned was a Hillman hunter...Which caught fire, so I bought a second one and used it to rebild the first. And then she got pink stickered on the first outing.

Oh yeah, and we rolled it on its lid down the beach.

Twice.

Muhahahahaha.

We chickened out of getting the Quattro . Missus had to much damn input in the decision . She reckoned the ongoing costs would be excessive, eg maintenance, fuel and insurance . And that it was basically much more car than we need (hmmpphhh what do women know about these things!) .

So yeah, we're still looking . Herein lies the problem - we don't want anything mundane, so if we get something a bit different and at least a bit sporty, we're naturaly going to have to avoid the sensible choices and take a bit of a risk .

481494 2006-09-04 23:36:00 Toyota Altezza, good performance and toyota reliabilityNot a bad thought. Never heard of them before now, but I see they're Lexus, which can only be good. Only thing is they're ugly, both inside and out. Greg (193)
481495 2006-09-05 01:54:00 Why not try a Peugeot?

I've lived in two countrys where Peugeots were pretty mainstream - and classy they werent!

Having said that, the more recent ones may have an appeal to the missus, so it might be worth a looksee.
