I lived in Wellington many years ago - before floppies and CD's - and I am sure that the public library had a record of bird song for loan. Your bellbird is listed under its proper name of Korimako.

I found another site with the bellbird call. I still think its 95% a bellbirdie.

A few birds other than parrots & cockatoos can mimic sounds, and I believe a Tui is one of them. Phone rings, door bells, whatever...:lol:

I thought only Aussie bird life did that. Our Tui's sleep in a bit later than 4:30am
