| 709227 | 2008-10-02 14:43:00 | Hi all. I installed a new motherboard. Old mb was intel d815, very old. New board is intel/ibm 865g... or gv. I wanted to keep all my old stuff. But with new board, system wouldn't boot. Not even in safe mode. I use w2k pro. So I ran install disc, and installed new os. Old os was in C:/WINNT, I installed new os in C:/WINNTT so I wouldn't loose any old data. Is there a way to transfer hardware settings from new os to old, and make old os read new hardware, and boot with new mb? Just a thought. Thanks, Sue | sunsetsue (14215) | ||
| 709228 | 2008-10-02 17:04:00 | I don't think so as the OS loads all the data required for the new mobo when you install it and the old copy of the OS will not have the required details for the new mobo so 99% of the time will not run at all. | gary67 (56) | ||
