709881 2008-10-05 23:08:00 I am totally sick of a dialup connection that constantly connects me to the internet at speeds of 26Kbps & of being told that broadband is 'Not available' in your area. I cant really afford satellite broadband but it looks like I dont really have a choice. Can anyone out there suggest a good satellite broadband provider...(North Canterbury area). It's that bad that I'm resorting to using my pda connected to Vodafones fantastic 10m for a dollar a day. Any suggestions? Newteach (4990)
709882 2008-10-06 00:14:00 Do you get Telecom 027 service where you are?, if so, you could get Telecom T-Stick (USB modem with Flash Drive). This will give you wireless broadband.
I thinkthey want $167 for the stick and $56 p/mth for 1 GB p/mth for 2 yrs....

You may like to try barter the purchase price of the stick, with corporate telecom account we get them for free and last month retail price was $40 for the promotion.

Even if you dont get full broadband speed, you will get digital speed which is about 80kpb\s, still better than dial-up and it wont cost you satelite prcies.

I guess you can't get Woosh either?

If not:
Wireless Nation have 2 options, pay for the equipment and install up front, or pay it off in your monthly fee.

PM me if you want the latest costs. I have a spreadsheet showing it better than their site.

709888 2008-10-06 01:00:00 I'm in North Canterbury.

I connect with Scorch, via wireless to Mt Grey.

No problems with service at all.

709889 2008-10-06 08:01:00 Oh heaps of great replys, am considering scorch but interested in all options. Have considered Vodafone as we get coverage just not 3G. Don't get telecom coverage believe it or not, only a few kms out of Oxford and no telecom cell coverage thank God for Vodafone. Newteach (4990)
