484212 2006-09-12 15:51:00 I went to a NZ site (xtramsn.co.nz and here: xtramsn.co.nz), and saw there was a bikini/Summer note there....

OK..so here's the question...since youse guys live in Upside-Down Land, is Summer coming next in your seasonal que or Winter like the rest of the world?

I can't imagine that you call the cold part of the year Summer, and Winter is the time for "reduced" clothing...but what's the truth?

Do you just call the warm season Summer for you own purposes...or do you stick to the convention that Winter starts on or about December 22nd?

All that changes is the amount of rain and the chill factor. We are just changing seasons to the season with slightly higher temps and just a touch less rain. That help you at all? :p

484215 2006-09-12 20:30:00 In New Zealand with no large continental masses to create severe weather we enjoy a very stable climate.
some times we have floods and a rare tornado.
on average you can work outside 99% of the time in reasonable comfort with ether a jersey ,rain coat ,or t shirt.
perhaps one snow storm a year or a few inches and a bigger one every 10 years.

spring is here at the moment in christchurch and we can expect at least 80% of the days to be 14 to 20 degrees cent, and almost no wind.
not to hot not to cold.

white xmas, no way, spend the holidays in the surf and sun

You get used to silly things were we live that say "Summer 2004" model and then have to somewhere indicate that this is the Northern Hemisphere they are talking about . . .

OK, let's get this right - South is up not down . Unfortunately there have been a few books distributed, mostly in the Northern hemisphere indicating a preference for showing North to be up . Sorry, wrong - I repeat South is UP and it therefore follows that all "youse guys" in the northern hemisphere are the ones living in Upside-Down Land and the correct season at the moment is spring not the falling that "youse guys" are doing now .

Aye? This is like Primary school science . :stare:

The earth tilts on its axis which gives us seasons as diferent parts of the earth are oriented towards the sun . Summer is warmer than winter because the Sun's rays hit the Earth at a more direct angle during summer than during winter and also because the days are much longer than the nights during the summer .

When southern hemisphere is oriented towards the sun, we have summer and you have winter because you are oriented away from the sun .

So to clarify, please do not invade our country .
