| 483769 | 2006-09-10 19:54:00 | Did anyone else feel that last night's (Sunday 10 Sept) drama-documentary on TV1, "The Path to 9/11" could very well cause dissatisfied Islamic youth to join Al Queda or similar organisations? While I found this doco-drama to be riveting, interesting, with good acting, etc., it seemed to me that certain people watching it would be clapping and cheering at what Osama bin Laden and his troops were up to. I can imagine terrorists and would-be terrorists around the world watching this program with the joy and enthusiasm peculiar to fundamentalist radicals. On National Radio I heard that President Clinton, Madeline Albreight, and others have severely criticised innaccuracies in the doco-drama. Supposedly pressure was being put on TV1 to edit out portions of the program. Anyone have details on this? BTW, part 2, the conclusion is on tonight, Monday, 7.30 - 10 pm. Oh yeah, must say that it was good no one else in the house was watching telly with me - I would have driven them up the wall :lol: as I was channel flipping between TV1, Prime's Top Gear and Prime's 9/11 documentary on the Twin Towers - on at the same time as TV1's doco-drama. I could not be bothered taping the Prime programs.:rolleyes: |

Supposedly pressure was being put on TV1 to edit out portions of the program. Anyone have details on this? There was a huge uproar in the states about it being inaccurate. It's in the paper as well, the law lecturers at Auckland Uni are complaining and/or taking people to court about the innacuracies of it! There was also a thing in the sunday star times about how the media is giving Osama exactly what he wants by giving it so much coverage and almost glorifying it. |
