483625 2007-10-19 03:19:00 ???? Apart from the fact that i haven't smoked for more years than i can be bothered recalling, there's no way i could compare the circumstances of 15-22 years ago with those of today . Life tends to change in so so many ways . . . . . . . . . .

I doubt if there will ever be accurate general info on this, after all, to achieve this, one would need to force people who don't want to smoke, and deny a group that do . By correlating data from these groups and the natural smoker and non smoker groups, we could actually work out if pot makes people lazy, or if people who are prone to being lazy want to smoke and all the other "facts" can be confirmed or challenged .

This is unlikely to happen .

There has been a "war on drugs" and the first casualty of war is always truth, particular when human beings, fanatic groups, and/or governments are involved . :(

bang on .
I know a lot of people that smoke and are very productive, I also know a lot of people that smoke that are bums . I think wether you smoke or not if your lazy your lazy .

Agreed. I think a lot of problems come down to prohibition too - although having said that, alcohol is (fairly) freely available and may not be the cause of many problems, but it is most certainly involved in a lot of misery in society.

My observation would have to be that while drugs (alcohol included) don't necessarily give people problems - they give people with problems more and worse problems.

The war on drugs will never be won. What should be addressed is why people resort to drugs. I think society - and especially in cities - for a lot of people is a hostile and difficult environment in which to live.

I think Tim Shadbolt confuses cunning with intelligence. He has plenty of the former but I see little evidence of the latter.
