I say the church should have absolutely no say at all between the happenings between a man and a woman. My Gf and I have discussed it and are planning not to marry as generally it is a church affair. |

Yes - Brilliant. Not normally a fan of Penn & Teller I must admire this effort. What is so amazing about it is the fact that they are American and had the courage to make these statement. I bet the CIA have them well & truly noted. Tom |

Heard another famous talking head here in the US (Dale Dye, Captain, US Marine Corps, Retired ( . about . com/library/weekly/aa012100a . htm" target="_blank">usmilitary . about . com) . . . a real war hawk and republican) saying that world affairs are not political any more, but religious, and the heads of state are fed up with the tail-twisting . |

My Gf and I have discussed it and are planning not to marry as generally it is a church affair . ROG . . . it depends on what one considers "religion" . . . . . as defiance of or adherence to any rules (whether you make them up yourself or interpret them from a text), become a religion unto you . As you can see, if you are making rules, then (by no broad strokes here) you are making a religious compendium from whatever you deign as rules you must follow . I am sure that if you are observant of "rules" that you make, then you are acting on your conscience . . . and that is a law unto itself . We all do this . . . it's normal for humans to find solace in the things they do . If you decide to not call that religion, then that is your decision . . . but it is a guidebook to which you adhere and therefor I say it becomes a religion because it has self-induced rules or laws . Nobody can force you to be anything you don't want . . . it's free will and you are entitled to that . You will stand or fall by those rules . . so don't be too strict or you will "sin" in your own regulations . . . . or not . :D :xmouth: <hope I didn't say enough here> :xmouth: |

| 484348 | 2006-09-14 07:20:00 | I am actually quite serious in this relationship, but I just don't know how to deal with this. we do have a good time, I don't really mind to go to church with him sometimes, but not all the time. Such as last week, I was stressed at work and only wanted to stay at home for a rest, but he wanted me to join the Sunday mass, I didn't want to disappoint him so I went, after that I really wanted to go back home but they then started to have lunch, study the Bible and so on... I got totally sick of that by the end because I told them I was stressed and tired at work, but in their mind, they thought the best way to release my stress was reading the Bible or sth... We had an argument after the church, I told him how sick I was, but I guess he only thought that was because I was too stressed at work...I do like him, I am ready to spend my life with him,but since last sunday, I really start to think what should I do if this happens all the time. Sometimes I am just afraid I might will lose my control in the church... and really don't want to hurt his feeling. I dont know...sounds like a stupid question. | Vampire_Dakola (11131) | ||

| 484350 | 2006-09-14 09:14:00 | I'm intrigued to know why our forum got this wee gem, but maybe someone's trying out scripts for a soap opera somewhere? Or a writing assignment? (Definitely lowbrow, though. Something like Woman's Day?) Or possibly just bored? This could be a bit of fun... My own suspicion prompted my question about the poster's age. No answer to that - but neither has anyone else's question been answered. My guess is that a genuine poster would've referred to some content from those who took the trouble to give advice. ("Mass" was the only reference I noticed to the requested flavour of religion. That may give some members food for thought) If I'm wrong, I'll be interested to hear that from Vampire_Dakola, of course. |

What about him hurting your feelings? Its quite simple - become a down-trodden doormat or get someone who cares about you and not his god obsession. |
