483822 2006-09-11 23:02:00 Why don't those boss's just double the pay of those wonderful workers.

Workers everywhere unite.Let us put these boss type people out of business.
Bring back the the old Telecom and the old railways, who had special shovels made so that 3 of us could lean on them at once.

My Dad worked for the railways and has great stories of being told to slow down because he was making other people have to work faster.

Commrads unite!

As a self employed person I don't really have any sympathy or understanding for the strikers. So you keep ahead of inflation and get an extra few dollars to tick up a new TV...big deal I wouldn't trade that for 40 hours a week of drudgery.

Sure, not everyone can create their own opportunities but we live in a meritocracy not a socialist state. If you think the later is a good idea try reading a book.

483823 2006-09-11 23:07:00 Sorry,I thought where a goverment takes 50% of your earning and spends it in a way that keeps it in power, was socialism. Cicero (40)

Try being an employee then . I've been both and selfemployed, although lots moan about the associated ACC, IRD etc it beats being a wage slave .

483826 2006-09-12 05:19:00 Pak 'n Save is just as bad in my opinion. A 15 yr old... Could be studying or mucking around... Earns $6.00 - 12.5% = $5.25 an Hour
That was when I was 15. Now I'm 16 and get $7.20... My m8 who works at woolworths earns about $8.20 I think.

Short story, Corporations such as Food Stuffs NZ don't care that a 15 yr old can work just as fast as a 50 yr old earning TWICE as much. I have to stay though... Paying off my new PC :-(

483827 2006-09-12 06:19:00 then why not apply for woolworths, or mcdonalds? i got a job at a signwriter's afterschool when i was 15 for about $8.30 an hour, cash. my mate worked at a computer place building systems for 12.50 an hour, but at the time they weren't looking for more workers or i would've joined him :( motorbyclist (188)
483828 2006-09-12 06:37:00 Thats the only place I'm allowed to work, apparantly working at mcdonalds is "Not good for you." as my parents put it.

I'm not even going to bother mentioning Countdown across the road...
