483605 2006-09-10 19:37:00 Marijuana generally doesn't lead to "meltdown" unless the person melting down is bipolar or has similar disorders, and then it is one of the worst choices a person can make.

Personthingy, your comments just may lead to a breakthrough. I mentioned what you said above to a couple of other people who know the situation and they both said they were considering bipolar as the problem for the young mother. So, I passed this onto my friend, who will be meeting with mental health professionals today and tomorrow. She told me that her daughter was told to increase her antidepressant dosage to 3 a day, which is 3 times the normal dose, but this has NOT been effective (if marijuana or another illegal drug is involved then I suppose it would mask or undue the benefits of the antidepressant).

Is there a blood test or other quick diagnosis for bipolar disorder? Probably not, and perhaps there are varying degrees of how manic depression affects a person so that diagnosis is difficult. Anyone know?

483606 2006-09-10 19:49:00 May be an urban legend or not, but I think running thru fields to capture an ingredient is reserved to poppies and opium production..right?Handling the last Marijuana i grew ( and went away for) would make my hands go black very quickly. It *could* be scraped from the skin of farm workers if the scale and quality was high enough, all though, i'm sure there are better ways. the dead skin to hash ratio would not be the best :D

As for capturing opium just by running through the fields, i think not as opium has to be bled from the stem of the plant/flower, and has little if any surface content..... Makes a good story though!!!!!!!

483607 2006-09-10 19:59:00 spelling error:
(if marijuana or another illegal drug is involved then I suppose it would mask or undue the benefits of the antidepressant) .

"undo" - not "undue"

Not a good combination this Marijuana and bipolar . I watched an ex flat mate who i had to kick out from my CHCH house go to the west coast and make a complete fool of her self . She turned up at a harvest party i organized, and would fluctuate between ecstatic behavior and tears of sadness and back within a few minutes, and expected to be able to get on stage . Always extreme, ANY extreme . She did this bender for a month before she finally got put in the bin near Greymouth . It's not easy to get noticed for mad behavior when in the Northern Buller region, but she did .

Now she's back on her meds, and not smoking pot, she's OK

483611 2006-09-16 08:36:00 All I can say is why do you think they call it dope?

Thats what users are. Stupid.

So is the girl for being caught. At least she has youth as an excuse.

Drugs are a fact of life, i myself have the shame of having worked in drug barns that openly sell a terrible and intoxicating drug to all those who attended the gigs i was working on. Yes it's true.. i was low enough to work in the kind of lowlife places that would sell alcohol, to the public no less.....

'fraid drugs are a part of NZ culture. We see drunks openly, and it's not uncommon to see people passing joints at parties, or consuming coffee at workplaces. I think it's best to understand such things, rather than bag the people who use them.

483613 2007-10-18 05:51:00 Hash is marijuana.

So...depressed OR unmotivated?
Because from what I've observed heavy users are always unmotivated. They sit around vacantly and do nothing, usually forgetting what they got up for in the first place.

LOL. I registerd just to reply to this message. Heavy users are unmotivated? They forget what they stand up to do? Well damn. I guess smoking the stuff everyday for the past 4 years of my life doesnt count me as a heavy user... When I was a depressed teen I smoked it with friends so my mind would focus on the direct present. Laughing at stupid things and just not thinking about the bad stuff that teens think is so important. So if you dont know what you are talking about ****!! That is all.

483614 2007-10-18 05:55:00 Meh, every long term heavy smoker I have known has failed to improve their lot in life until they give up and get motivated to do something.

Or they have gone into large scale buying and selling of drugs and become rich, Or jailed in some cases.

I also know many junkies and p heads who smoked the weed for years, They were onto it, Now they are in hell, Some of them just haven't clicked onto the fact yet.

4 years...you know nothing.
