484756 2006-11-28 09:54:00 60,000 seats @ $1,000 a ticket. 10 games should pay it off. R2x1 (4628)
484757 2006-11-29 00:32:00 yes but why should auckland pay for a 'national' stadium? wouldn't it be an 'auckland' stadium? and why should auckland pay for mt eden when the govt was going to pay for waterfront?

although i should hope the mt eden trust or whatever they're called pay a large portion of the cash

R2x1: 60,000 seats @ $1,000 a ticket. 10 games should pay it off.

484758 2006-11-29 13:18:00 So, conclusion, if Auckland benefits by all this money, then Auckland should pay. User pays right?
But alas, it wont happen, the government will throw in a hundred million or so, and the rest of us will pay for it... again.Um, does Auckland reap 12.5% of all expenditure? Nope. It goes to the government. And is it all spent on Auckland? Nope. So Auckland generates a massive amount of revenue that's spread throughout the country, but people still get pissed that this region requires a lot of money to maintain its infrastructure.

Sheesh - the narrow minded Anti-Auckland Brigade really P me off sometimes! :groan:

484760 2006-11-30 04:19:00 Yep! . . . . . There will be no funds available for "Patea Park" . . . . . . . I mean Eden Park . No-one wants to pay for it .

Here is the official list of non-contributors:

# Auckland Regional Council
# Auckland City Council
# Manukau City Council
# Government
# Auckland Ratepayers
# New Zealand Taxpayer
# North Shore Council [have already slated funds for Albany Stadium]
# Waitakere Council [can they afford much???,I don't think so]
# Eden Park [already in debt for $25 million]

So to recap . . . That's basically everyone in N . Z LMFAO!!!!

And only one council to blame, ARC Geriatrics led by the "Super Selfish F^ck-Wit" Mike Lee . He has now left a legacy of Councils fighting each other, ratepayers fighting councils and the Govt and Eden Park Trust stuck in the middle .

The great part about this is that if the "Warehouse" quality Stadium for Eden Park actually ever gets built for lack of finance,It will leave behind a monument dedicated to the Myopic,Neurotic,Selfish and sadistic geriatrics from the Auckland Regional Council .

What's more,is that when the Government introduces legislation to amalgamate Auckland City Council with North Shore, Manukau and Waitakere city councils, it will make the Auckland Regional Council defunct and disbanded ,as the aforesaid councils will receive funds and directives to take over the ARC's former role . And to that I say F^cking good job!! . :D

Looking at the crystal ball for Auckland's future:

# We will see Auckland with an amalgamated Metropolitan Council, devoid of the ARC . :D

# We will probably see a "cowboy" Stadium at Eden Park costing $160 million with a loan from the Govt to Eden Park .

# We will see the wharfs opened up to public access with genuine "first world" entertainment infrastructure .

# We will see a $700 million "Stadium NZ" built on Bledisloe Wharf [construction starting 2010] funded by the Government in preparation for the Cricket World Cup 2015 . From there the Government will tender for any future Rugby World Cups . . . . . perhaps for the '2023' or '2027' RWC's .

#We will also see Mike Lee in a retirement home with dementia and Incontinence . And I hope the care givers refuse to change his nappies as punishment from the Waterfront Supporters and the rest of New Zealand whom also supported this wonderful vision .

i doubt it . . . .

and ten points to no-one wanting to pay . . typical nz politics . . . only the govt would opt to pay for the waterfront too

484762 2006-12-01 02:43:00 If the NZRFU has any sense it will relenquish the RWC 2011 hosting rights to the IRB .

The admission would be that we do not have enough time to develop "First World" Stadia,to honour the commitments to showcasing a world-wide prestige sporting event to television viewers . [reference Wikipedia ]- The 2003 tournament had a cumulative world television audience of 3 . 5 billion .

# Note the 2003 RWC had 48 matches with total stadium spectator numbers of 1 . 8 million patrons .

. wikipedia . org/wiki/Rugby_World_Cup" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org

The above deal would see Japan Host the RWC 2011 in return for N . Z being awarded to hosting rights to the 2015 RWC .

This would mean that we would be able to deal with the dire and disgraceful Auckland Regional Council situation, with legislation to amalgamate existing Councils into one single "Auckland Metro" Council and disbanding the ARC .

The Government can then set about building StadiumNZ on Bledisloe Wharf [construction starting 2009] in preperation to host two very important World Sporting events in 2015 . :D

It's the right way . And the only way! .

484763 2006-12-01 04:37:00 good idea, NZ has too much beurocracy to get anything done in a reasonable period of time:groan: .... we'd have to start contruction in 2008 though, just to be on the safe side;) motorbyclist (188)
484764 2006-12-02 02:37:00 And/or at least before the next election :D [ Barring crises, the next general election should occur before Saturday 15 November 2008].

Labour would have to Veto construction starting before it left office,if indeed it was to lose the next election.

Early to mid 2008 sounds about right.
