484727 2006-11-25 08:16:00 This is a choice between a stadium and used cars for the short sighted, who cant see past next Mondays cabinet meeting,
and for people with a bit of vision its a choice between a big plonky ugly stadium and something like a Sydney opera house or an Eiffel tower, or a statue of Liberty, etc,etc . Something much more monumental and visionary and inspired than an ugly stadium . Easy choice .

And such an insurmountable amount of enjoyment to be had, from standing in front of a monument dedicated to the ARC . . . . . the great visionaries of the 21st century . :groan:

3 cheers for our visionary hereos! :help:

And people say it's hard to get to Eden Park !

484730 2006-11-25 08:57:00 Auckland mayor Dick Hubbard, who watched the regional council deliberations, said he was not surprised by the ARC's decision and warned that the cost of upgrading Eden Park may have to be met locally .

"By taking this decision, they may be putting more responsibility on Auckland ratepayers . "

Metla: You have been spanked .

Correction:

Auckland ratepayers are going to be heavily spanked . I don't own a house or land, so it doesn't affect me . And you can thank Mike Lee from ARC,for landing you all in the S**T . Have fun paying for it "suckers"!! . :D

Dont understand.

And Utopia, The fact that Eden park was going to cost ratepayers more has been a well known fact throughout this debate, and yet most of the polls showed a clear majority in favour of Eden park. I suspect if the government was going to front up with the money for both, then Eden Park would have been favoured by an even greater margin.

Thats what rates are for, to provide services and facilities that the people of the city want. Aucklanders want Eden park and so we should pay, and not grumble about it. Eden park was part of the original world cup bid and so was always going to be developed, and Auckland ratepayers were always going to pay a large sum anyway.

Child, don't presume for a second you are in any position to correct me, the fact is that any project the Government undertakes is paid for by the people of NZ, You have already stated that you know better then those who are paying for it, that you refuse to contribute but condemn the views of those that do, and that you will leave the country .

So, Please, Make good and leave, There is a sailor in Kings Cross who is waiting for you .

We could steal one of them, drag it back with a tug boat . You know what I mean though, something better than a stadium can be built there, something iconic .

Still a bit confused what you mean,, over my head at the moment .

The government has stated already that it is only making a small contribution towards Eden Park . The balance of it is via ratepayers . "As I'm not a ratepayer I cannot contribute to Eden Park" . The Waterfront Stadium was the Govt's major contribution via the taxpayer, and yes I would have been contributing as a taxpayer too . But I would be happy to do so .

I condemn those stupid enough to vote in the whole ARC Council . And because of there drongo decision, ratepayers of Auckland will suffer . As I'm not a ratepayer,I have no sympathy .

Yes . . . I do look for better prospects overseas! . Along with 30,000 other Kiwi's whom leave N . Z every year because of this nefarious disease called "vision-less dolts" .

Youth of NZ leaving in droves, driven primarily by the short cited stuck in the mud policies of the minority governing elite!

Youth actually means anyone, regardless of age, who desire change and something exiting .

To make fun of someone's sexuality, whom is completely open about it . . . . is about as retarded and lame as you can get . For that you get no credence or respect what-so-ever! . :groan:
