2006-11-24 10:05:00 | I liked the look of contemptuous disbelief he blessed us with when he realized the rabble didn't instantly fall into line and at his feet when he declared the new stadium in Auckland to be a National Stadium. I could declare my shed a "National" shed, wouldn't make a lick of difference. Hell, I'm going to declare it an International Shed. Just looked up supercilious, It means exactly what I presumed it did.....

2006-11-24 10:06:00 | The Government to decide . -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's about time the Government of N . Z grew a large set of "balls" and with that set a new precedent for this country . That being commercial advancement for the future of this nation . Enough of this bull****! . Take a stance, and build Stadium New Zealand . I'm most certainly am not going to be held accountable ,when in 20 years time our children demand answers to the following! . #Why did you refurbish such a "dumb arse" stadium in such a "drop kick" residential location"!? . :( #Who was responsible for turning down an *inspiring* stadium along the waterfront!? . :annoyed: #Why do we have a "hick" warehouse style Stadium in suburbia and not a "choice" first class stadium along the waterfront!? . I don't know of many countries that have such a *circus* of regional councils as what we have here in Auckland . 5 Councils looking after the city of Auckland . What a joke . That is the problem here . And I say *fix it* . . . because if you don't . . . your children will!!!! . Go the Government . Go the Waterfront Stadium!! i love all the words like 'inspiring' and 'world/first class', good to see all the propaganda wasn't a complete waste of our money and actually got some people if we did build it on the waterfront our children will be asking "why is there a bloody great stadium that is hardly ever used blocking the view of the water on the water front?", "why did they build a stadium when there is no way for everyone to actually get there without bringing the entire city to a halt due to poor infrastructure?", "why do we have to walk 3 km from our car park to see the game?", "how can we call our stadium 'visionary' when it's a copy of a foriegn one?", "why did they build a stadium on piles rather than reclaimed land so last week's tsunami could get it and no-one could escape the fire/collapse due to ony one land access?" they will still ask (wherever it goes) "why didnt they put a roof on the stadium incase of rain and to stop noise reaching devonport/mt eden housing?", "why can't they treat mummy's cancer in NZ?", "why does auckland have soooo many stadiums?", "why did we spend all that money on a building we couldn't finish in time even though the govt . broke all their own laws to try and do it in time?"

2006-11-24 10:18:00 | after looking at this option (http://www.wakastadium.co.nz/) i would concede that it would look much better than the generic 'bedpan' that they currently want on the waterfront... only issue is the whole waterfront not having access nor parking thing, and it would look somewhat odd having such a 'curvy' or otherwise beautiful structure right next door to a port lol god that bedpan is ugly

2006-11-24 10:33:00 | I'm most certainly am not going to be held accountable ,when in 20 years time our children demand answers to the following! . Most kids, maybe not the Auckland ones though, don't give a stuff about where or what the place looks like, they just want to see the game . That's what its all about . That's where the passion and excitement is . This debate is crazy  #Why did you refurbish such a "dumb arse" stadium in such a "drop kick" residential location"!? . :( #Who was responsible for turning down an *inspiring* stadium along the waterfront!? . :annoyed: #Why do we have a "hick" warehouse style Stadium in suburbia and not a "choice" first class stadium along the waterfront!? . Sorry Utopia, but you're coming across as a snob . I do hope you and your kids are living in an inspiring luxurious and modern mansion worth megabucks, because if you are in a modest renovated home you might find 20yrs later that your children will ask why they had to live in such a "drop kick" residential location . OMG, they might be psychologically damaged for life :stare: . It's a flaming bunch of rugby matches . It's the game everyone is interested in watching, not the surrounding seating . It's beating those flaming Aussies again and hopefully a referee that let's the game flow and not keep stopping it all of the time . It's racing down to the pub to celebrate afterwards . It's feeling bloody proud of our All Blacks and the tick tack parades down the main street when the Rugby cup is over . That's what people will remember, not some monstrous mausoleum . $300 million is a ridiculous amount of money that somehow seems to be available all of a sudden . Where is it being taken from? Who is going to lose out? I'd like some answers on that from the govt! Bugger the stadium .

2006-11-24 10:34:00 | Build a massive train station under the stadium, and plant trees along the port.....:lol: Anyhow, The traffic issue is a bit of a turkey, no matter what you will have a short-term gridlock when a stadium crowd heads home, Its part of the experience.

Bugger the stadium . i meant to make first point, and agree with second point (and have made it several times already) as for metla, while as usual i do agree, we have a slight problem in putting railway underground in that all auckland's trains are great big dirty diesel things . . . . . and auckland gets jammed as it is, even without that stadium which has no parking |

2006-11-24 10:48:00 | Yep, Thats the breaks when living in a large town with badly implemented traffic manegement and crap-house public transport. If they spent as much on public transport as they do on motorways then there wouldn't be a traffic problem, Unless of course they just wasted the money on more crap plans. Anyhow, No matter where they put the stadium it wont in any way fix Aucklands traffic......

2006-11-24 10:53:00 | maybe if they made the entire motorway network to have 4 lanes in either direction, and planned the on/offramps so that they actually work and are 2 lanes wide, and made a VERY high fine for people who slow to 30kph to look at a guy getting a speeding ticket/look at guy putting up sign/look at out-of-gas car, we might see the motorway thing sort itself out..... although making buses/rail actually practical to more than 0.05% of the population and encouraging carpooling/motorbikes would have a similar effect
