710541 2008-10-08 06:30:00 Scan for new hardware. See if it detects then installs the drivers for it again

Is there anything under sounds / audio tab that you can select for the default device?? ie: the modem if its a voice modem?

Other than that you may have to do a restore.. back to the original software.

If its there

710543 2008-10-08 22:10:00 Why not do a System Restore ? find a restore point before you started playing around and your system should revert to the safe condition it was previously in. weorth a go. Good luck Blam. willbry (1555)

710545 2008-10-08 22:19:00 Could require the MS UUA HD driver, has this just had SP3 installed? SolMiester (139)

That was my first thought until I had realised that I had recently turned off system restore to remove a virus!!:badpc:

710547 2008-10-09 02:20:00 Probably this (support.microsoft.com)

Altho SP3 shouldnt need it

710548 2008-10-09 02:25:00 SP3 wasnt released with the MS UUA driver and is known to break audio on some chipsets after install.. SolMiester (139)
710549 2008-10-09 02:26:00 Thanks Speedy, I'll check it out now

BTW just out of interest, how many hours do you spend facing your PC (not work) during a day? It seems like you're always on PressF1 lol :D

It included KB888111 tho. According to the MS site for XP SP3

Altho I proved MS wrong a few months ago lol. In their newsgroups, they stated This was included in SP3 (support.microsoft.com)

It wasnt. You had to download it (for SP3), then extract the files in it, then install it manually to get it to appear.

BUT there is now a fix on the above site for SP3. So it installs when you run the hotfix.

I dont work Blam. I'm at home, not work.

And where I used to work, you didnt have access to the internet. Only email, with permission

Thats why I'm here :D
