710098 2008-10-08 01:25:00 Sorry, I did not write clearly.
Most of wireless routers on the market is with 3 dBi antenna.
So if you change to a 5 dBi antenna and you have 2 dBi benefit.

You should know that the wireless signal go straight and signal loss through
Plasterboard wall -3dB
Glass wall with metal frame -6dB
Metal door in brick wall -12.4dB

I had test the wireless signal from a house to a garage before.
They are 15 meters apart and outdoor open space between them.
There is 2 dB signal loss when it rains.

well that would mean currently my 3dbi signal can be barely picked up in the office space on a fine day so a 5dbi should be enough to get a good signal however, when it rains that extra 2dbi i get with the 5dbi aerial becomes null (thats what you are saying) so that means i should be fine with anything 7dbi or higher? obviously higher the better.

correct?

also can some1 link a good site to buy one from please, the ones i see here seem... weird.
