484460 2006-09-14 07:33:00 Optus B1-T5L here.
Sky have said that their new satellite will reduce rain fade considerably when it is launched. I rung sky last night cause i had picture problems and they said the usual crap reset your decoder and all will be fine.
I get home tonight and theirs a message on my phone from a tv tech saying that sky do currently have transmission problems which would explai:mad: n the rain fade signal on my tv tonight even though its not raining. But he also said that sky hope to have it fixed over the weekend.

484461 2006-09-14 07:39:00 I notice a few artifacts and freezes here over the last few days as well.

A couple of months ago it was chronic, but it was the decoder.

Replacement decoder fixed it fine, although the first new decoder out of the box was as dead as a Dodo.

Switched on Sky just after midnight today (Friday)......"Sky will be down for up to 3 hours for upgrade"...or words to that effect.

Some channels were off air but some still broadcasting, although bitty.

By the time I woke at 5.30am Sky was back up and I noticed the weather channel (58) was quite a bit smarter than usual

Not much of anything from Sky is new I'm afraid....same old recycled repeats. I don't know how they have the audacity to charge hard earned cash for it.

The only reason I subscribe to it is that I wake most nights around midnight and an hour or two of watching Sky reruns usually sends me back to sleep.

The word "smarter" described a quicker speed of loading not a change in appearance.

484465 2006-09-16 02:13:00 I had that problem quite occasionally though the past week, rang them, they said they're doing urgent maintenance to the network and it will reduce the rain fades that randomly occur...
the weather been gorgeous here lately so cant blame the sun!

Just hope they get that new satellite out in time or News LTD will be asking for money from sky like they're asking NZRFU for resting players....since we cant watch the rugby world cup....

Its weird...i've even had sky working 100% in a thunderstorm but on gorgeous days it crapps up...
