483891 2006-09-15 01:57:00 I wouldn't advise its use in formal work (or any :(). Is it really Italian? I suspect that "ismo" is not a normal suffix in Italian, though I could be wrong. ;)

Like "cheapo" I'd guess that it's of English origin, cobbled together from a string of Italian words, adding the English "ism", with the "o" to make it look "foreign" (and therefore inferior). :D
