710379 2008-10-07 08:45:00 Hey guys,
A while ago, my laptop monitor started to flash green. As time got on, it sometimes flashed pink as well, but mostly green.
I have realised a few things since the flashing started:
1.)I realised that the monitor usually started flashing when I am running the laptop for a long time and when the laptop was fairly warm.
2.)I also realised that the flashing of green happen in the zones where the black (and darker) pixels are.
3.)And the flashing of pink happens in the zones where the white (and lighter) pixels are.
4.)Another thing was that the screen became stiff since this flashing started. At certain angles, when the screen is stiff when i'm closing it, this causes my monitor to flash
But recently, my monitor started flashing at random times, even when i have just booted my laptop.
5.)If i close my laptop lid and then open it back up, the flashing will go away but the flashing is happening more and more often now and at random times when the laptop has not warmed up yet (unlike before).

Do you know what this problem is and how it can me fixed/repaired?

Thanks =)

PS: My laptop is Compaq Presario v3645AU. The system model is Presario v3500 Notebook PC

710380 2008-10-07 17:05:00 It sounds like the LCD is on its way out or the connections are damaged. Is the laptop still covered under the warranty? Jen (38)
710381 2008-10-07 19:10:00 Yeah i have to agree with the above as when you open close the screen it goes away or doesnt so it must be the connection that has worn down over time as you always open and close the screen... Hope the warranty is still alive:thumbs: Silver_Blade (10144)
710382 2008-10-07 22:29:00 Yea my laptop is still within the 1 year warranty but i think it will expire soon, in around 6 days approx. =\
Is there only one way to fix this (to get a warranty) because installing all the aps and backing up my files will be quite a hassle
Is it possible to get them to fix the connection instead of refunding the laptop?

Thanks

Take it to a tech NOW and get them to do a clone of your HDD.

Then take the lappy in, get them to sort it.

Sorry, the warranty does not end in 6 days, that was for something else . I may still have a month of so.
To Wratterus:
So i can take my laptop to a tech to clone my HDD just in case the people fiximg my laptop loose the data? (if they are fixing instead of refunding - which one wil be more likely?)
The cloning of my HDD wil affect all drives right? (C:\ D:\ etc.)
Also, where may i be able to find a tech to clone my HDD?

Thanks for the help =)

Yep. You may need to 'loan' a hard drive off them, or purchase one, in which case you could buy an external HDD, that way you have an option for backing up in the future too.

It's hard to say which they will do, either way they'll probably wipe the hard drive.

Not if you clone it as is, keeping the partition info, which is pretty normal. That depends on where you are, there's bound to be someone on here who can recommend a good tech near to where you are.

Yea ok, so if they clone my HDD as it is, i will have all the drives that are currently on the HDD?
My HDD is partitioned with Vista and Xp and also a recovery drive

Yep. Sometimes vista/xp dual boot can be a bit fun to get going again after a clone, but as long as you get the same model laptop back it shouldn't be an issue.

I will need to change my user account to no-password since they need to use my account to clone and fix the laptop right?
