2008-10-07 08:23:00 | Try not running the Reg cleaners sections - they are usually more harmful than good, esp if used all the time / to often. Just an Idea - What may be happening ???? is the reg cleaners are removing some reg keys office 07 needs - hence it reconfigures to repair. Ccleaner for cleaning out temp rubbish should be OK - try it with out doing any cleaning of any sort and see if that makes any difference, ( Stating the obvious) its reconfiguring because somethings not right.

2008-10-07 08:31:00 | okay, i will stop using the reg cleaners, i have backed up the reg each time, should i try restoring some of them? | hkingsbury (13817) | |
2008-10-07 09:05:00 | Try it as you said without cleaning the reg and when it reconfigures, see if it holds OK. If it doesn't, I have just been looking and there appears to be a few people with the problem, but no real answer common answer - mainly refers to Office 03 installed as well. I did find this though on a tech site - no idea if it works or not, but you can try, just remember what you did so you can reverse it if office plays sillies. Rename this file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\OFFICE12\Office Setup Controller\setup.exe to something like setup.exe.old.... Dont delete it - keep it so you can refer back to if need be

2008-10-07 20:15:00 | i tried that, didnt seem to work, it just recreated the 'setup' file  | hkingsbury (13817) | |
2008-10-08 02:23:00 | Hmmm - At the moment then I'm all out of idea's - i was doing so research into the problem and almost every thing was the same - Office 2003 was installed previous, and from what I have found, no real answers apart from whats already been tried. I think the problem is Office 2007 is catching some left over parts of Office 2003 in the reg, thus causing the configuring all the time.

2008-10-08 02:55:00 | While I was reading about the problem Blam - Several others suggested running the repair function and it didn't work/fix the problem, that's why I didn't suggest it - mind you wont hurt to try - nothing to lose. | wainuitech (129) | |
