I have a server that needs to be protected: - quadcore Q6600 - 4 HDD in 2 raid-1 arrays - 500W PSU - Windows Server 2003 x64 Can you recommend a suitable UPS? Having never bought one before, are there features such as send a signal to the server to automatically shutdown if the UPS has kicked in? And if such a feature exists, then software that's Win2k3 x64 compatible? Budget of $300-400 (or am I dreaming?) |

| 709909 | 2008-10-06 00:53:00 | Hi, yes, usually a com port to trace UPS battery levels and the software can be configured for delay shutdown. Being a server, you may want to go 1 better than just battery on power failure by getting a full online UPS, which filters the power to stop spikes, brownings etc. For a 50-60% loading to give about 5-10mins, I would say a least a 1000va would be required, something like this...www.vectek.co.nz |
