I know the trick is not to let Windows do it in the first place but this was just a repair install and the driver came up not working. If I take it out totally Windows will install (without a wizard to cancel) MS UAA for HD Audio 1986. It needs Soundmax HD ADI 1986, that won't work if I then install it. I get error 10, cannot start on both drivers. I've read every help doc on Google, none help. Driving me nuts....... |

| 709876 | 2008-10-05 23:04:00 | No idea if this will work on Audio Drivers - I had a program over the weekend that wouldn't install due to older version sections being there. Try downloading the Windows installer Cleanup (support.microsoft.com), run it and see if it lists the Audio Drivers, if it does run it on them, you'll get a DOS Screen for a few sec's while its running, then try putting the good drivers back in.- Nothing to lose. |

Do you know how many times I did that? :mad: It doesn't actually ask which is half the problem, you just get the new hardware found, well not new hardware, it finds the MS UAA. And screws it up. In the end I downloaded an older one from ASUS, ran the Hotfix included, rebooted, watched it screw up again and then ran the old Soundmax then, voila, success at last. I hate the drivers though.................you want to see how many posts there are about this thing. Rule One: NEVER let it be uninstalled once working............ Geez half the morning on a driver...... |
