711521 2008-10-11 09:12:00 My ASUS DRW-2014L1T (SATA) will now only read DVD's that aren't burnt (commercial DVD's and magazine disks etc are fine). It will see the size of the content on the disk in properties, but when you go to explore it there is nothing there. Running Vista Home premium with Nero 8. Twelvevolts (5457)
711522 2008-10-11 09:18:00 You mean it can't read home made DVDs? Were they burnt on the same computer? Jen (38)

It can't read home made DVD's from any computer as far as I can ascertain. And if I leave a burnt dvd in the drive and reboot, Windows freezes until I take it out. This doesn't happen with a commercial or non-burnt DVD.

Nero won't be used by Windows trying to read the DVD in the drive. All the software uses the same commands to the hardware. If the drive can't read burnt disks it won't matter what software you're using.

Used to be able to read them - possible that it stopped after the firmware update but I can't be certain.
