711483 2008-10-11 05:41:00 I have done some research on this and find very conflicting results. i have AVI and MPEG moviesegments and I want to burn them to a DVD that I can just flick in a DVD player. How can I make them readable in DVD format? These are old movies that were converted once to make them working on a PC, but I want to see them on my DVD player again. Would buying something like PowerDirector help? Then I could probably also make menu's etc with that?
Thanks for your help

711484 2008-10-11 05:43:00 You would need something that can convert them to dvd format.

ie: Nerovision, Powerdirector might, I've never used it, or something like cdburnerxp

Or any of the Ulead programs

711486 2008-10-11 23:45:00 Are you wanting to use a dvd menu to view the videos, or does your dvd player have a file browser?

If all you want is a video file to be playable in a dvd player and use the filebrowser to select the videos, you only need to convert the video file to a format your dvd player will recognise.

Newer ones can play divx/xvid, so you only need to convert them to that. I use virtual dub do convert formats. But you'll need to use one of the programs mentioned if you want dvd authored menus etc.
