486582 2006-09-22 04:02:00 No, but then and again, I'm not that big on TV, very few shows I like. I feel there is to much of the same and to many repeats. I prefer to be online than sit and watch tv all night :) GhostBuster (10141)
486583 2006-09-22 04:24:00 No. Too $$$ for what you get. Lizard (2409)
486584 2006-09-22 05:09:00 Yes I do, have two decoders actually and there are two people living the house!

BUT it is either Sky TV or no TV :yuck: because where I live I am unable to get any free to air TV due to the reception :dogeye:

486585 2006-09-22 06:09:00 No Sky because they force you to pay for channels you don't want.
If you could choose and pay for just the channels you want i.e. Sport and nothing else then I may look at getting it.

486586 2006-09-22 06:49:00 Nope. Unless you are really into sport, I personally don't think it is worth the money, though when they begin to offer HD it may be more tempting. I hardly have enough time to watch the few FTA programs I like, let alone having even more stations. :p

You can currently get TV1 and 2 FTA via satellite. Next year you will be able to get Channel 3 and C4 as well as part of Freeview. :)

486588 2006-09-22 10:55:00 Why the poll? It's already been announced in the financial press quite recently that 46% of NZ households have Sky TV. Greg (193)

I get the feeling those figures may have been 'massaged' slightly. Take a walk down your street and count the sky dishes you can see.

I had sky digital my last place, definitely not worth the money. I didn't want the sports but did want the movie channels. Soon after I got Sky the movies turned to crap and anything worth watching went to pay-per-view... pay twice for the service, no thanks.

Sad to see Sky's revenue for the last year was down... maybe FTA will give them a rev when they suddenly find they are not the only game in town.

486590 2006-09-22 12:27:00 Well, the "financial press" doesn't relate to what I see among my friends & family.
46% is nearly 1 in 2 households. I'd want to know more about that survey...how large was it & where was it done?

I'd guess about 1 in 3, but it's merely a guess in a non-representative small sample of people I know..
And no, I don't have Sky. I've nothing against it except the price..
