A couple of weeks ago I was sent a fax from an Aus outfit advertising Headsets - followed a day or so later by a repeat.
Yesterday and this morning (both at 8:15 am) another ad pushing a list of Govt & Police Disposal sales. This was also from an Aus crowd.
The catch with this latest is that an ther is an 0900 number to ring which will result in a further fax containing the whole list of the items for sale. The 0900 cost is $6.30 per minute with an estimated (their estimate) on line time of
6 - 9 minutes.
Pretty expensive for a faxed list of 13 pages of dubious items for sale.
That's if there any at all! Especially as these messages are unsolicited !
Interesting eh:annoyed:

486537 2006-09-22 17:18:00 You simply encourage them to send more by replying.
And it's your phone bill & paper they're using.
There have been suggestions here of ways to deal with unsolicited faxes - to make them pay instead.

486538 2006-09-22 22:19:00 Send a never-ending fax: print off heaps of copies of "Do not send me FAX SPAM!" Fill the page, and print off about 3-6, depending on your machine. Tape them all together except two ends, so you have a long sheet of paper, then once one end has gone through, then you can tape the other sides up to make a loop! I got this from Fair Go once! :D  pcuser42 (130)

good idea, I have tried that before, unfortunitly I think most of these faxes come through computers or some other method that doesn't require a fax

486541 2006-10-01 11:09:00 Thanx for suggestion. Only prob is - I'll waste $5.00 of their fax paper and it'll cost me $100 in toll charges! Not a good option Woody (710)

To actually answer the question, yes. After a long period of peace, over the last 6 months I have noticed a steady increase in unsolicited fax messages.

You can't do anything about the overseas-sourced faxes, but I have had great success with a standard return letter that advises the sender that future faxes will incur charges, explains exactly what those charges are, why they are levied, and what they have to do to avoid them.

They can get them checked by their lawyers if they want to (one did) but in the end they find that they are better off to remove my number because they will have to pay if they don't. One tried and on the advice of his lawyer made an offer in settlement, which I accepted.

Don't get mad, get smarter and get even.

Cheers
