| 486514 | 2006-09-21 23:28:00 | i was watching one news's 6.30pm segment yesterday and they were doing a story on ipods and mp3 players and illegal downloading of songs. At the end of the story and reporter said "it is expected that itunes will be setting up shop here in a few months". I guess it has to be true cuz the reporter wouldn't of made that up unless she knew something. P.S I have not got an ipod(i got an mp3 player),but currently when you open up itunes does it load the USA itunes store by default or what? When the new zealand store opens will it default to the new zealand store? |

| 486516 | 2006-09-22 00:13:00 | When I load up iTunes, it defaults to USA, but you can choose which store to open. I'm not going to hold my breath for iTunes NZ. Rumours were floating around this time last year about iTunes opening in the New Year - never happened. Interesting, if superficial, story about downloading music. I think the guy they interviewed was right though - the music industry missed the boat bout 6 years ago not adjusting to the changing market. Now they have an uphill battle, with an entire generation growing up with unprecidented access to commerical music. They will need to find the killer app for music, in terms of convincing people why they should pay for music (over and above the legality/morality issue) rather than download it. |

They are very successful at keeping things secret right up until the product is announced. My guess would be that the reporter doesn't have a clue and is taking a stab in the dark. It would be great to have an NZ store though. :) When the new zealand store opens will it default to the new zealand store? It automatically opens the store you last visited. |
