| 485244 | 2006-09-17 00:32:00 | The rumor is that Steve Irwin publicly accepted Christ at Kings AOG church before he died is false . He was not at that church . Maybe there were elements of truth in the rumor though, we will see
. . See email below from a friend in Australia . Dave Forwarded Message From: Tim Carré Date: Sat, 16 Sep 2006 15:53:33 +1000 To: Subject: Steve Irwin apology I would like to deeply and humbly apologise for (yesterday) forwarding to people the information regarding Steve Irwin becoming a Christian . That news was sent to me via a respected senior Pastor friend and the information is detailed below (see SHOP Weekly Newsletter) This morning I was informed that Steve Irwin did not attend the Church mentioned and that this did not take place, however Terri his wife and children have on occasions been attending a local Church in the region . I have since informed my Pastor friend (below) of the truth, received from another local minister who contacted the COC Church personaly, where he learnt first hand that the story as placed in this weekly newsletter below is indeed untrue . How dissapointing to hear! I feel guilty and dissapointed to have forwarded this on to you all, especially as some have also forwarded the great news onto many others . We have the memorial service here at the zoo in a few days time and Terri Irwin will speak for the first time live, maybe she has an encouraging story to tell God Bless Tim Carré Faith Stories International Original Message From: Jim Williams Sent: Thursday, September 14, 2006 11:43 AM Subject: SHOP Weekly Newsletter SHOP News (it means Springwood House Of Praise) 17th September 2006 Here is the latest piece of news about Steve Irwin: I want to inform Creation Ministries International, that Steve Irwin became a born again Christian two and a half weeks ago at the Kings Church AOG Buderim, Queensland Australia, going forward publicly before the congregation to ask Christ to become his Lord and Saviour . Many of us will now spend eternity with him . I am sure Terri is comforted as a Christian in the fact that she will be with Jesus and also Steve again for eternity . Steve declared the day before he died that he was the happiest he had ever been in his whole life . Pastor Robyn Reiser Noosa Christian Outreach Centre PO Box 1221 Noosaville Qld 4566 Australia . |

| 485245 | 2006-09-17 00:47:00 | Is this becoming a Fundamentalist forum? Personally I have little interest in the life and death of Steve Irwin but I find it appalling that these god botherers have latched onto his families tradgedy to gain points with deluded people who might be convinced to join their clan of loopies. They give faith a bad name. Get over yourselves. $h1t happens!! | theother1 (3573) | ||

In fact, he could be the founder and messiah of the Onanist Church of Australia for all we care, and he probably was. There have been weird posts, irrelevant posts, and downright incomprehensible posts on F1 Chat, but this one takes the cake. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

And this rumour indirectly promotes being a born again Christian. Certainly you can have your opinion of not giving a toss, but for me anything to do with religious untruths is interesting. I am sick and tired of Christian hoaxes, like Charles Darwin seeing angels on his death bed and reciting biblical scripture and other variations on this theme. The Christian fundamentalists in the USA got Bush elected and look at the mess this has caused. And then there is the Pope's recent stupid speech that fans the flames of Islamic terrorism and hate in general. Most internet hoaxes are harmless. I get slightly annoyed that I still get the email about MS giving away $$$. Big deal. Theres no real harm done. But some religious hoaxes, to me, are in a different category. |
