2006-09-22 23:35:00 | I support that the org should adhere to their promises . However, if I was the store I would feel a bit upset if someone did what Lizard did, went to one store get a price, go to another and say he just bet your price, then go back to first store and haggle and then back to the other continously . Hey what price do you want it for? Market wholesale price when the store makes no profit at all? To my understanding and principles I would think the store agree to their own policies (and should) match "advertised" prices . But hey if it worked wouldn't be bad but how is the morale . Maybe I could get a airticket to London for $1500 . If that all worked and pple did it all the time there would be much less retailers out there . If I was the store, I would say, yes we can match it either same price or a tad less (most 5%) but you have to take that offer right now, you cannot leave the store and come back for a lower price or accept the former deal price .

2006-09-23 02:19:00 | i hate bastards who spend near on half a day pissing about through all the shops looking for the best deal to save a few bucks. absolute petty-ness, and is doubly aggravating when you serve them and hear "i can get this online for $$$, can you do it cheaper" ?.. No you stupid pratt, go buy it offline. but the story in this post does make for good reading, and NL's are ********s ! Not everyone has unlimited funds like Jams so they must shop around for the best deal. I these shops don't want to mach the price then they shuldn't advertise price match promises.

2006-09-23 03:39:00 | Update: Late Friday afternoon I received 2 phone calls. The first from the Commerce Commission, to advise that my complaint was enough to be considered at their next meeting, for further investigation. The 2nd was from the Manager of the Wairau Park NL store. He had just been brought up to date with my 2nd email complaint and rang to apologise and was upfront that the whole incident had not been handled appropriately. This was put down to mis-communication between Customer Care and the store and that not all staff understood the Price Promise policy. I believe his apology was genuine and that he was somewhat exasperated by his staffs performance. NL would of course match the price and offered up double FlyBuys and free delivery if I still wished to purchase. This whole incident has taken some of the joy out of buying a new TV, having been shown the door twice at the store. I hope my post at the various forums has shown that you don't have to tolerate inexcusable service. I am in the service industry and if you don't respect your customers, you will never earn their business. Happy shopping.

2006-09-23 03:40:00 | is Bond and Bond and Noel Leemings franchise outfits ?ie the stores are independently owned? if so it would explain why they would want to refuse to sell at such low margins. mind you i would have thought 2% margin is better than no sale. About 2 years ago the tried franchising some stores, it didn't work & there are no longer any now. All under NLG. Your right....2% is better than no sale. Cheers KiwiMR2

2006-09-23 11:19:00 | I had a funny experience at NL when I walked in and was going to purchase a $3300 TV. I guess because I certainly dont look like I have money I guess I must not have any, the clerk/attendent whatever tried to convince me for a good hour to go on these plans to purchase it over a period of time. I explained I was looking at buying it with one payment. He almost laughed and went on his explaining payment options. Not bothering to listen to him I walked to the shop next door and bought a TV and Dvd under 5mins. I purposely loaded it into my car so he could see. The look on his face was worth it.:p | rob_on_guitar (4196) | |

You would think by now that sales people wouldn't judge people by how they look. We don't all "dress up" to go to the shops. |

2006-09-24 04:32:00 | A few years ago we went to NL or B&B (can't remember which) to buy a new washing machine. We'd just been touring around Europe using front-loading machines in laundromats, so we had a look at those. As we were standing there, a salesman came up and asked if he could help. "Yes, we're trying to figure out why these front-loading washing machines are half the price of the top-loading ones." The salesman stood back stroking his chin and after a moment or two said: "Mmm. Weeell, maybe it's because they're dryers." Why can't more sales people be witty like that? We bought a machine off him.
