486417 2006-11-19 03:33:00 Ah yes. Incidentally, Friedman wrote "Free to Choose". Nothing about spiritualism though.
Alas Poor Friedman, I knew him not. Freedom to choose is a good idea, even if B. Gates abhors the idea. I'm not into spiritualism, more of an ale-eist. (Ha, foiled the spell-bot.)

486418 2006-11-19 03:50:00 One hopes T,he was your god too.

True enough, as with other creeds, it is possible to pick and choose those parts which takes ones fancy :)

I expect he is busily debating with John Maynard Keynes at this very moment !

486420 2006-11-19 05:20:00 Metla,

The Bible says that Jesus is God BTW. And He is the same God of the Old Testament. God wiped out the entire earth with a flood in the past with a global flood because of the depravity of mankind in those days. But even then He was extremely merciful sending people to warn the world to turn from their evil ways to avoid the coming destruction.

To show you the consistency of Jesus with God Jesus himself foretold of another judgment to come because of the very same thing.

But Jesus' first coming was not to destroy but to preach repentance and provide salvation to those who will accept it.

Ah well, That just makes it even more obvious that such logic is not for me, Because thats a twisted load of ****.

486422 2006-11-19 06:37:00 According to the people that used to know, (sic), once upon a time the earth was flat. That is until the earth was circumnavigated. Even within my lifetime there was the "Flat Earth Society"

We have come a long way as a species that is for sure. We are all, however, a product of upbringing, environent, parents, friends etc. We were given, or evolved, a brain which has the ability to make choices. In some cases the brain may be defective as in some medical disorder like Alzheimers or Downs Syndrome. In other cases you do not actually have a choice in the real world due to financial considerations, boundaries, race, colour or creed.

There are pressures in all our lives. Smoke or not, drink alcohol or not, buy a Holden or a Ford or not, eat Marmite or Vegemite or something else.

In most peoples lives there is a lack of choice. The Government tells us what to do. Your peers tell you what to do. Your family tells you what to do. In the final analysis it is your choice.

I have made some wrong choices in the past but I will accept it is my fault.

A defective brain though may be God's fault if we accept I was created by God. An all knowing, all seeing all loving God.

Now I can never again trust what you have to say since I know that JW's are taught that it's OK to lie in defence of your religion.
...

I however, would not stoop to insults and degradation like that.

Insult? What insult? Oh wait, you don't know that JW have a belief called "Theocratic War Strategy" in which they say it's OK to lie in order to prevent the organisation from being cast in a bad light. Perhaps you'd better do a little more research on the teachings of your own religion Joe.

Here's a good place to start (www.jehovahs-witness.com)

Perhaps you'd better do a little more research on the teachings of your own religion Joe .

Here's a good place to start ( . jehovahs-witness . com/6/109121/1 . ashx" target="_blank">www . jehovahs-witness . com)

And here
( . jehovahs-witness . com/6/91203/1 . ashx" target="_blank">www . jehovahs-witness . com)I don't read apostate literature . . . . . there are people who burn out on their faith for one reason or another . . . (of which they very likely had little in the first place) . . . . and feel that they must try to poison the water around them in trying to retaliate for what they could not or chose to not understand .

Some people fold their hand at the slightest trial or tribulation, and these are worse off than those who had no inkling of the truth in the first place .

(Ecclesiastes 12:11-14) 11 The words of the wise ones are like oxgoads, and just like nails driven in are those indulging in collections [of sentences]; they have been given from one shepherd . 12 As regards anything besides these, my son, take a warning: To the making of many books there is no end, and much devotion [to them] is wearisome to the flesh . 13 The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is: Fear the [true] God and keep his commandments . For this is the whole [obligation] of man . 14 For the [true] God himself will bring every sort of work into the judgment in relation to every hidden thing, as to whether it is good or bad . .

Eyes of spirituality and a heart of bad motives do not go hand in hand .

The research I have done so far, in the years since 1968, only serve to reinforce what I follow and act upon . I test what I read, weighing it against the only word that is correct and act upon my own free will to live the life I choose . This may not be the most popular way of faith, but then again if it wasn't, I'd be worried . (1 John 5:19-21) 19 We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one . 20 But we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us intellectual capacity that we may gain the knowledge of the true one . And we are in union with the true one, by means of his Son Jesus Christ . This is the true God and life everlasting . 21 Little children, guard yourselves from idols . .

I have found this to be very important: If you believe in and want to please God, religious affiliation is vital . . . . . . but not with just any religious group or denomination . You need to base your choice of religion on accurate Bible knowledge, not on unproved dogmas or hearsay . (Proverbs 16:25) . There exists a way that is upright before a man, but the ways of death are the end of it afterward .

Learn the requirements for true religion . Compare them with your own beliefs . Then choose accordingly . . . . . (Deuteronomy 30:19) . I do take the heavens and the earth as witnesses against YOU today, that I have put life and death before you, the blessing and the malediction; and you must choose life in order that you may keep alive, you and your offspring .

These are the same scriptures you have in your bible, so you are not able to say that you had no idea of the seriousness of your statements .

I don't want to try to make a sheep out of a goat by cutting off it's horns . . . . . . enjoy life, live long and prosper, keep the wind at your back, the rain out of your eyes and die satisfied with your days . (James 2:16) . . . “Go in peace, keep warm and well fed,” . . .

486425 2006-11-19 19:47:00 Well, I don't deal too much with your manual Joe, but the manual for the Hitachi punch card machine (successor to the IBM 026) stated that "When cleaning, caution not to water the electric part or the computations will be meaningless". I suppose that part of the manual was universal truth for most machines. A lot of the other parts were of dubious application to card punches, and utterly meaningless in relation to vacuum cleaners.

A universal rule for manuals? "Keep the salt handy."
