486489 2006-09-22 10:04:00 Why didn't you do what the guy from NL said and buy it from Bond and Bond. Not worth the agro from NL.

I don't do loyalty schemes anyway.

It sounds like it is more the principal of the matter. I have also had major problems with Noel lemmings, although after making a complinant they did remunerate me for the bad service, and I would puchase from them again. They do have a shocking computer system and major problems with it.

486491 2006-09-22 13:18:00 i hate bastards who spend near on half a day pissing about through all the shops looking for the best deal to save a few bucks. absolute petty-ness, and is doubly aggravating when you serve them and hear "i can get this online for $$$, can you do it cheaper" ?.. No you stupid pratt, go buy it offline.

but the story in this post does make for good reading, and NL's are ********s !

486492 2006-09-22 13:56:00 Why do I get the impression, Jams, that serving customers isn't the dream job that's been your lifetime ambition?

(Though it must pay enough for you not to be at all tempted to search for shopping economies yourself)
But I hope you're able to disguise this attitude when dealing with the customers?
I ask because I think I got served - through clenched teeth - by you or your twin recently when I was "looking for the best deal to save a few bucks."

Funnily enough, my Mum told me that was good sense.

486493 2006-09-22 15:33:00 My sympathies Laura and we all like a bargain. Nevertheless sometimes the best deal isn't the cheapest price. Service, courtesy, parking, reputation are all part of the decision. And after I'd been in business for a few years I realised that everyone has to make a profit - otherwise they don't survive. So paying a fair price is the better choice. If it is too high to be affordable - walk away. In fact I waited 2 years before buying my 32" TV - admittedly it wasn't easy. :D Winston001 (3612)
486494 2006-09-22 16:42:00 Agree with you completely, Winston.

It was just the "service & courtesy" bit I wondered about from Jams, after the "I hate bastards who..." bit.

I wondered if he clenches his teeth or smiles.

Yeah I agree with that.
Well possibly with the xception of parking - thats OK here WInston, can be a bit of a tricky requirement in Auckland city.

In my case with the 99c difference, B&B and NL were located right next door to each other.
If I'd had to drive across town to get my 99c off I wouldn't have bothered.

But I also agree NL doesn't always have good customer service. My husbnad went into one to buy a washing machine once and during discussions on delivery the sales guy made the mistake of laughing at him.

He cancelled it immediately and walked out. We ended up getting it for the same price at, guess where, B&B.

Yes I do appreciate that. It annoys me when companies don't honor deals like this, but maybe they do it to get you in the shop and then get you to pay a bit more.

Lifes getting to short to argue with some upstart in a shop. It is ironic that the loyalty schemes helped the decision to buy at NL but Mr XXX decided that 2% wasn't enough to make on the deal.

486497 2006-09-22 23:02:00 Facts: ** Same parent company 'Pacific Retail' owns both *Noel Leeming* & *Bond & Bond* brands . Eric Watson still has shares In the parent company .

Eric Watson SOLD Noel Leeming & Bond & Bond over a year ago . Noel Leeming Group Limited is owned by Gresham Private Equity . Noel Leeming Group consists of Noel Leeming and Bond & Bond . Gresham is an Australian company . . . . . I beleive they also own the likes of Repco .

Eric also sold Pacific Retail Finance recently to GE Finance but PRF will still trade as PRF but owned by GE .

Remember when there was the Bond & Bond saying "you can't beat a Bonds deal", that is no longer around . . . . . . to many people would play off Noels & Bonds not knowing they were owned by the same parent company & silly sales people would continue price beating untill the company was making a loss on that sale . I believe they have made the price matching policy to keep a level playing field in this area .

You are right . . . . Noels should have matched the price & given flybuys . I suggest that now as you have already tried through the normal channels you get an e-mail address for the group manager & e-mail him your problem, he or she will make it happen . It is sad that it has had to get to this stage & Im sure both the manager of the store & the sales person involved will be either reminded or informed of what they should do in these instances . . . . match the price .

For every horror story there are lot's of good experiences we dont here about right through from Bond-DSE-Harveys etc . Im 99% sure it will be sorted quickly once you contact the group manager :)

Cheers

Your right....at the end of the day it isn't up to him weather he wants the sale or not, he/she is employed to provide assistance to the customer regardless of if it is a $10 sale or a $10K sale, lots of profit or little profit.

Cheers
