486059 2006-09-21 11:15:00 Well with the Hamster and clarkson not able to review (hoon around in) the fast cars for a while, it could be quite funny watching James (Captain Slow) testing all the hi performance cars

The car Boating one last week was classic, right down to having cups of tea in a sinking VW combi cum narrow boat

Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond has suffered a "significant brain injury" after crashing a jet-powered car at speeds of up to 300mph during filming.

Doctors at Leeds General Infirmary said they were "reasonably optimistic" the 36-year-old would make a good recovery.

I doubt they get insurance, or not without a clause in it.

Who insures the cars?!!

486062 2006-09-21 23:51:00 I doubt the cars are insured, its fairly widely known that most cars that appear on Top Gear end up going back to the manufactuer not working. Clarkson and The Stig have a reputation for driving the cars pretty hard. Pete O'Neil (6584)

Yes I don't laugh at very much on TV, but that did.

486064 2006-09-23 04:11:00 Good news so far... from BBC web site:

Jeremy Clarkson, one of Mr Hammond's co-presenters on the BBC show, told the Sun newspaper his colleague had got to his feet and walked "shakily" to the toilet during the early hours of Friday. And fellow Top Gear presenter James May said on Friday he believed the injured presenter was "perfectly intact" after the pair had had a conversation at his hospital bedside. "I'm not a doctor but I am his mate and I believe that deep inside the Hammond I know is perfectly intact," he said.
