486367 2006-11-13 20:18:00 Special relativity is shown in the account of Jacob....

(Genesis 28:12) 12 And he began to dream, and, look! there was a ladder stationed upon the earth and its top reaching up to the heavens; and, look! there were God’s angels ascending and descending on it. . .

This is referring to the instantaneous communication between heaven and earth...in a vision of course, as people of that time had no knowledge of time-space travel.

Religious nutters can make any stupid phrase fit whatever interpretation they like.
Like the above.
Of course ladders with angels walking up and down = physics.
Right.
And theres fairies at the bottom of my garden.

486368 2006-11-13 21:40:00 I think there are aspects of life which help define the meaning.

As to why we are here. To give and receive love through our energetical selves.

:)

True, but then many things in life can and are described quite easily by eupherisms (pardon the spelling). Infact the era surrounding the mystery of christ and the last 2000 - 3000 is one of the greatest most interesting things I have ever studied over the years. And no I arent a religious nutter, just a seaker of information. Anyhow I believe all religions/prophets were basically saying the same thing.

Ok, I can understand where you are coming from. I don't think SurferJoe's comment is conclusive evidence for General Relativity. I didn't quite understand the connection either but he may be right. The purpose of the Bible isn't supposed to be a Physics textbook, however it should be consistent with the real world where it makes statements about it if the claims it makes to its origins are true.

I do agree with the rest of his comments though.

Some claims made by Jesus:

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 14:6

I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved

John 10:9

Both of these quotes relate to how you get to heaven, how can ALL the prophets say the same thing when this is what Jesus is saying?

486370 2006-11-16 03:08:00 Easy...

They've obviously each got their own heaven.
It's much more fun to believe in several - and they don't have to all be in the same place.

Just pick your prophet...

Edit: Oh dear. I forgot that I resolved not to enter this thread again aaages ago.

OK wouldn't he have been better off saying that he was A way rather than THE way (singular)?

Also note that Mohammed (a supposed prophet too) says that you have to become a muslim and follow the Quran to get to heaven, there is no other way.

(The media may have been no more accurate then than now).

Well . . there are eyes of discernment and eyes of foolishness . I will dismiss the "religious nutter" part .

Remember to whom the scriptures was originally written . . . these people had no idea of physics or nuclear reactions either . . . yet the Bible, when it does enter the scientific, is accurate .

The up and down the ladders part was just a hint by the creator that there is more to the eye here, and that the hearer of prayers could make an instantaneous response where required .

This was in complete disagreement with the pagans around who had to throw another virgin into a volcano for a blessing on next years harvest .

Here's what I proffer for consideration: IF god were to live on the sun, then at the speed of light, the fastest communication would have latency of . . . what . . . about 3 1/2 minutes one-way . . and probably 7 minutes both-ways for a severe delay in communication to and from god . Heaven, since it is not in this realm should therefor be at least a little further away that the sun .

Time is a constant, velocity is not .

Time is perpetual, velocity is relative, forcing the perception of time to shift when in reality speed is the true variable .

Read those last two sentences (^^) over a few times and see what I am implying .

The angels climbing up and down indicate the existence of special relativity . . . the ability to accelerate in a curved space beyond the speed of light and therefor arrive at the same time of departure (but never before), in this case, hearing and answering prayers instantly . . . and in some cases when the prayer wasn't finished .

Take into consideration this too: the answer to some prayers is: "NO" . Prayers have to be in alignment with god's purpose for them to be positively acted upon, at least from a human standpoint .

It doesn't take much mental gymnastics to visualize such a presentation .

Like I said, there are also the instances of other physical realm revelations and parallels in the bible . Would a loving and kind creator write science fiction?

You indeed may have fairies in the bottom of your garden . . . consider their source and be careful to what you admit . . . you will be tested later .
