485540 2006-09-18 22:39:00 Was this played live on TV here?Sure was, yesterday afternoon.

A bit weird for me, never having watched a full women's game before. But there was some remarkable talent shown.

My overall impression was that they displayed the sort of sparkling quality that you'd see in a premium high school's boys game. Some moments of sheer ingenuity, but it certainly isn't a women's sport.

The worst thing about it though was all the stupid girlie shreaking and squealing from the stands - man that was annoying. It sounded like a netball match. :yuck:

485541 2006-09-18 23:27:00 They did good alright.
I missed the game but read about it in the hearld.

My half sister was playing womans rugby for awhile there and doing well at it to so my old man said.
Hard to imagine cause shes not a big girl but apparently she plays hard. I've never seen her play.

485542 2006-09-19 05:44:00 Yes, a great effort and some very 'staunch' women there .

A bit disconcerting the way they carefully throw themselves on the ball and dive across the line . . . perhaps because of anatomical differences between men and women?

I walked in on a bit of the game . . . at first thinking it was the All Blacks doing something, but just the way they 'played' didn't look right . . . . no disrespect meant at all, but women just play rugby differenty, even if those differences are subtle .

In the end what does it matter, they won 3 World Cups . . . maybe the All Blacks can get some of their 'ju ju' and play like they mean it instead of playing like professionals .

I shall now go and hide

485543 2006-09-19 13:00:00 Well, I've never played rugby, Shortcircuit..

But as someone with "anatomical differences," I can assure you there's a very good reason for not diving across the line in quite the same manner as the guys.

(Sorry - I should have said "two very good reasons.")
