| 485258 | 2006-09-17 03:28:00 | As we know that we're resting all blacks for 1st 8 rounds... News LTD aint happy... Guess what, South Africa's and Australia's broadcasters arent happy either....they reckon "lack of all blacks would dilute the matches" are we really that high up on the pedestal....dont they have their own "heroes" or they're realising we're doing a good thing to ensure a good chance in RWC.... Fox Australia is looking at financial compenstation... Guess NZ is gonna go broke.... |

| 485259 | 2006-09-17 03:35:00 | If resting them works.....and we win the WC.....watch all the other major countries do the same thing......and News Corp go quiet..... ....if we don't win it.....then News Corp will be issuing prayer mats for all us rugby fans.....they will expect....and get.....blind obedience. Course...I could be wrong:p T |

Now they are professionals they want their money for playing as seldom as possable. Listen for the "not match fit" excuses if we ger beaten. It used to be an honour to be an all black. Now anyone who owns a pair of football boots will probably get a game in the AB's. As far as I'm concerned , I couldn't care less whether they win or lose. See the rugby brains have managed to ruin now. The inter- provincials are the biggest joke of all. Putting the second division teams in with the firsts has resulted in the standard of play. Who cares who wins? And this so called super twelve playing in the middle of summer. While I'm watching cricket. The only winter game of any interest is the Aussie league. |

Also, it's not a matter of resting them - it's more to do with giving them specialised training leading up to the Cup. |

All Blacks unite:p and we want to beat those other teams, no matter what . ok hibernating time again . . . beetle |

| 485263 | 2006-09-17 04:58:00 | Isnt the nearly 4 months after end of super 14 and start of world cup enough time to give them specialised training? First game isnt till 8th/9th September.... Super 14 finishes....may.... |

| 485265 | 2006-09-17 05:52:00 | I may be being a bit arrogant but I reckon our teams could still do pretty well in S14 even with 22 AB's missing. Carter, Mauger, Jack and McCawwill be big losses for Canterbury but the other teams only lose 3 or 4 guys each so we could compensate. Rockocoko is gone but that young David Smith seems pretty good. Stephen Brett for Cant, Serge lilo and the Waldrom brothers for Wellington. Jamie McIntosh for the Highlanders, etc.......young guys but it would be good to see how they go in a higher level competition. | saljens (11135) | ||
| 485266 | 2006-09-17 08:25:00 | Interesting comments Beetle . . . . . . I feel compelled to reply . . . . but no flame suit required:D I respect your opinion that you don't like the game, but to call it stupid? Like it or not, rugby (Union) is a part of NZ, part of our culture, heritage and ensures at least some our our boys grow up knowing that dispute resolution is not all about group hugs and talking through our feelings . From my experiences at coaching junior rugby, thse boys need what is often called "rough and tumble", and long may it continue lest they all grow up to be hairdressers . . . . are we that stuck on this sport as a nation that we argue about how we treat the players? shouldnt these guys be old enuf and silly enuf to look after themselves? and if they need specialised help, traing or diets, dr's whatever who provides or pays for these? Yip, couldn't agree more . Thank professionalism for that . Too many testosterone-fuelled, latte-drinking boys with too much time on their hands . I'm (barely:p ) old enough to remember the Good Times - pre-professionalism when NZ seemed able to win a game or two in the world arena, without or the mollycoddling they get these days . . . . Stuck on this sport as a nation? Most definately . . . . . too much history not to be . . . . . but as a long-time rugby follower . . . . I question just how "stuck" we will be in 10 years . . . . spectator turnout has been abysmal lately to top games, this weekend no exception . Still . . . . the Mighty Lions had Canterbury Lamb for tea tonite . . . . so their beers will taste good tonight . :p T PS: Nice to see you back Beets;) |

| 485267 | 2006-09-17 11:34:00 | All Blacks, and NZ . . . . they go together forever . Hey Allblack . . . . . . . . a few points . . . . . . . i may have not been clear on . . . . you picked up on . . . . :p beetle waffle gets in the way again i guess . Getting paid for bad behaviour is what is stupid . . . . . . . . . . . getting paid to be a namby pamby boy on the sidelines is wrong . . . . . . . . . playing rugby as it should be played is like watching poetry in motion . . . . . . . when top teams meet and play well, its well worth the effort to watch the game . . . . . . . . the players who get paid, who play for nz . . . . . . are we really sure they are the nations best? or is it because someone said heres some money come play for us . when you are passionate about something, (work or sport) it reflects in the way you live, breath, work and play and this includes sport, and the all blacks is a good example we have always had to live up to in the past . . . . . and this is when we get the best of the best up there on the ladder . . . i didnt say i dont like rugger . . . . . . . i just dont get the chance to watch it usually, and apart from that i couldnt hear it in the past . . . . so this leaves it wide open to watching it and trying to understand what the ref has just said . . . . but i do find attitudes both on and off the field a bit out of date . . . . . and that seems to be because money dictates to who and what should happen . . . . . . . id like to see it go back to playing sport because you want to and are good at it, not how much you can earn . Rugger wont go away, but how we as a nation support it dictates the future of players, stadiums and how well it does in the future and how badly we will beat them all . . . . . . . . :p and stay on top for this year at least . . . we have the ability to form our childrens attitudes now, to sport, work or people . . . . . . . . . how we as a nation treat each other, both on and off the field, it is in the tabloids daily . . . . . . . . . . . soon it will become less funny, and we will become less tolerant of bad behaviour, or attitudes . . . . . . when we see it is our children who are doing these things . but do we really need to be spending this much money on a sport when there are plenty of other things in nz that need help and support to keep the nation healthy, safe, and viable? we cant go back wards, we can only go forwards . and yeah, sweet to be home . . . . . . . beetle |
