| 712037 | 2008-10-13 23:24:00 | Hi people, Got a laptop here with XP Home SP2. It is having problems browsing the internet. It is getting an IP, gateway, DNS etc OK from the router. I can ping local computers by their computer name or IP. I can ping the router OK. I can ping the DNS server (Xnet) OK. I can ping IPs of any websites OK. I can browse websites by using the IP address OK. I can't ping any websites by name. I can't browse any websites by name. I can do an nslookup on a website name and it returns the correct IP address. I have tried winsockxpfix, manually setting IP, GW & DNS, different browsers, flushing DNS cache. There are no errors in the event log. Everything else on the laptop is running fine. What else can I try? I am busy installing SP3 to see if that fixes it. |
