2006-09-24 07:23:00 | Meh, I only have the one game now, not interested in any others so the title is wrong, Yet we shall all have to suffer along with it as I have the compolshion to spam the forum with my tunnel vision interests. The Long awaited Aussie V8 mod has been released for Rfactor....and quite simply it crushes everything that has come before it. Models are beautiful, The scratch built Bathurst is the single best track to ever appear in a game and the cars are killer to drive. If your experience with racing games has been limited to the likes of arcade games (Gran Turismo, V8 Racedriver, Nfs) then this will knock you out of your socks and probally into next month. Hell, even if you already prefer the sim-orintated games this will soon have you switching allienge to rFactor (Grand Prix Legends must Die!!!!) www.rfactorcentral.com There has also been a few other killer additions released, (and hundreds of lesser releases) The Formula 1 carset was the other big splash from a couple of weeks back. www.rfactorcentral.com And the 1979 Formula 1 carset demo www.rfactorcentral.com And to top of the package the best damn Monza ever created, 5 layouts including and incorperating the near vertical oval that was mothballed 30 years ago due to extreme death. www.rfactorcentral.com All of these (and more) are catologed in the rFactorcentral.com hall of fame. www.rfactorcentral.com The game can be purchased/downloaded from http://www.rfactor.net/ And a demo was incorperated into the latest build, meaning you can install her and run the BMW f1 cars on one of the tracks to see if you like her, This alone will blow your shoes off. Thats all, apart from the fact I have to make mention of the killer netcode, The best ever made for a racing game in fact. This afternoon I spent an hour on a server with 30 other cars, smooth as butter.

2006-09-26 23:23:00 | Hey Metla I have purchased rfactor and also downloaded and installed the Bathurst Track. I notice there are no distance markers as you come to the corners. Still getting to grips with it, the jury is still out on what I think of it. Trevor :)

If your not used to a race-sim then the learning curve can be steep and unforgiving, Though once mastered the enjoyment factor (should) shoot through the roof. To get the best out of the game you do need a wheel, You will need to go through all the game options and adjust to your liking and to go through the car upgrade options to change to suit ( I for one used the option to get rid of the roll cage and stuff that was blocking the cockpit view) Then its a case of hitting the track and learning how the cars are driven, No way around this (apart from using driving aids but that ruins all the work that went into the physics) but to run a few hundred laps:thumbs: Due to the gradient changes, walls, high speeds and sandtraps you may find Bathurst quite difficult to learn the cars on, in which case try a track like Toban which has plenty of run off areas , grass areas, and few obsicals to destroy your car. As for the corner markers on Bathurst, I have seen that mentioned and I dont know if they were an over-sight or not, Does the real Bathurst have them?, I do know that V8 Racedriver went to the other extreme and saturated many of their tracks with a redicules amount of direction arrows and whatnot. Besides that, In order to drive the track well you will need to know it so well that you know exactly where to start braking depending on how much speed you are carring, your track position, your intended line through the corner...and how you have the car weighted (nutrel throttel, trail braking , deaccelerating all have an effect on which wheels are loaded up) Though dont take my word for it, Im still 8 seconds a lap off the pace of the fast guys. |

2006-09-27 12:21:00 | Have done a couple of hundred laps round Bathurst in V8 Super Cars 3, so know the bends etc but speeds around bends are differant alot slower than V8SC3. I have downloaded a couple of car setups for Bathurst and are trying them out. Trevor :)

2006-09-27 20:28:00 | Well yeah, but notice I didn't refer to learning the track but rather learning how to drive the cars. The driving model of rfactor is just a tad more advanced then V8 Racedriver, Like comparing a house to a spacestation:D. Anyhow, The default setup for the cars is pretty good for Bathurst, Generally other setups are in order to go faster so tend to be much harder to drive, You may want to download a replay (only a tiny file) to see what sort of entrancce and exit speeds people are doing around the track. The faster guys are hitting a 2.07 laptime. The official forum also has a lot of info worth lookin at. forum.rscnet.org It also takes a good 2 laps without pause to heat the tires and brakes up to the point where the car can be driven hard and fast.
