487957 2006-10-02 01:14:00 I do.

I don't sell it though, that's bad.

Ah, like burglars that just steal stuff from other people and keep it for their own use. Thats all right then.

487958 2006-10-02 01:31:00 What does 'Max' really mean? Xtra's website says it's connection speeds as fast as the phone lines allow. The link the thread has to a Computerworld article says full-rate is 128kbit/s. And 'splatman41' on this thread, gets 192kbs. So what does 'Max' really mean? victorcharlie (442)

Sigh...........In simple terms it means "connection speeds as fast as the phone lines allow" you can't define it any better than that. IIRC Telecom's max capability claimed for their new plan is 7.5Mb down and 800kb up.

Read Telecom's explanation (jetstream.xtra.co.nz) here, but in the real world you will get whatever your line condition, exchange loading, local traffic, international traffic and your computer equipment allow. That will vary constantly throughout any 24 hour period.

That is what Max means.

Cheers

487962 2006-10-02 22:02:00 Oh my god are they seriously going to limit gaming speeds too?
That will suck big time, so playing Counter Strike and games like that will have a limited speed on them?:stare:
If that's the case then what are the internet cafe's going to do that rely mainly of people going in and playing games, usually at peak times?
If they limit gaming speed... :badpc:

487964 2006-10-03 00:05:00 Wah they never said they are limiting games :\

They stated P2P during peak. Expect a nicer speed during peak and crap off-peak.

487965 2006-10-03 00:32:00 I'm sure any good P2P users could get around their traffic shaping techniques with no trouble. E|im (87)
487966 2006-10-03 00:45:00 They may simply place Web (ftp, http, https) and Email (pop, smtp, imap) in a priority queue in the routers, and slow any other traffic (regardless of ports used), which p2p will not be able to get around. KiwiTT_NZ (233)
