487348 2006-09-26 02:10:00 I would say the calls are coming from the anti-car lobby.

Ah.

Well Jeremy reviewed something the other day that was a nice "green" car. He even said nothing comes out the exhaust except baby foxes.:D

My car's tail pipe is big enough to exhaust a baby possum . . . does that make it green? :D

Ah well, teachers are once again allowed to hug their students . . . maybe the pendulum is starting to swing back and we will see the wider population 'embracing' fast cars . . . and possum skin :)

487350 2006-09-26 09:22:00 i am a realist
when they promote fast cars-- 200kmph up
where will the average motorist use them to their potential.
certainly not above 100 kmph on NZ roads.
they seem to rubbish any car that does not do 0 -60 in so many seconds.

i find the most hazardous people on the road in the towns is the idiot that uses all his power to get to the next set of lights and wait with the rest.

the trouble is that once they are in front of the crowd they get to places they are not expected to be in, and are at risk of a prang from some one not expecting them to be there.

487351 2006-09-26 09:46:00 ??? I don't really care, I don't watch it!

Ditto.
A car is merely a tin box you sit in and it takes you from place to place.
Why people spend money on something like a Porsche when for a minute fraction of the money they could have a Honda scooter giving 10 times the fun beats me.

If I was given a scooter or a Porsche turbo... I think I would take the....um... Porsche.

Now you tell the car marketing people that a car is just a tin box

487353 2006-09-26 10:19:00 The thing about Top Gear is that they do not take themselves too seriously and even poke fun at themselves . They are certainly not PC but thats sometimes part of the fun .

Isn't Formula One the most watched sports event and thats all about speed .

487354 2006-09-26 10:45:00 Isn't Formula One the most watched sports event and thats all about speed. I have not heard about the most watched part, I thought that was soccer... oh well, but it is definately the most expensive I know that for a fact.

Who wants a program that is all serious and... well boring? Top Gear is neither of these things (to an extent), but it works for them and makes it a great show...

487355 2006-09-26 10:59:00 if your reviewing top end cars from ferrari etc, then there obviously gonna see how fast it goes, there not gonna test it out on the topgear testing track and keep to 60 now are they?

oo wow, one of them crashed trying to break britains land speed record, and hes in hospital, but that doesnt mean that the whole world has to suffer, its like the mum the takes the knives off some young boys having a fun ol knife fight, shes just jealous she cant!!

487356 2006-09-26 11:17:00 Top Gear is great it teaches people about how fast can modern luxuries exotic can go. Plus it's real.
In real life, I've seen people with no knowledge of how fast can a super exotic go "they only think it cannot not go over 200km/h" and Top Gear is really showing it.
e.g. some people though Ford GT can only do around 200km/h but it certainly can do 330km/h with no problem.
I know some people believe it "mostly rich people" but some people might not believe it "must be from undevelop countries, very old people, or some teenage kids who didn't even touch/seen a Ford GT before." lol.
 Top Gear is great to educate people about cars. i.e. What are they made of? "Of course those super cars ain't made of metal/stell anymore but CARBON FIBER MATE!
TOP GEAR ROCKS!
