Even sadder, it only applies close to home as George has very astutely observed . :rolleyes: I auditioned widely for a new cast then chose Mexicans as a substitute because I didn't think Joe would mind too much . And the point of your joke is not to "laugh at ourselves" but to laugh at others . Changing it to mexicans doesn't make it any better - a racist joke is still a racist joke . And what does "cuts too close to the bone" mean in this context? That your joke contains an essential, unpleasant truth? What may that be? The stupidy of the police or the fact that all [insert ethnic group here] are theives or the fact that we perceive [insert ethnic group here] to be theives? I don't think the joke is worthy of you Billy and I don't give a toss if anyone thinks I'm too PC . Most people who think a jokey insult is just fine and dandy are the ones giving, not recieving the insults . |

But being white/honky/pakeha and making fun of non-white races (or non handicapped and making fun of handicapped) is generally frowned upon (and usually with good cause) |

But being white/honky/pakeha and making fun of non-white races (or non handicapped and making fun of handicapped) is generally frowned upon I didn't think it was that good a joke - mainly cause of the dumb cop thing. Met a few thick ones but not that bad... However one of my favourites from Billy T James's TV series was his take-off of the Lands For Bags ad that used to exist. Billy on the street with a sports bag: Passer-By "where did you get that bag?" Billy: "Nicked it - hehe". So....whats that if not PC? Billy T J intended it exactly as it sounded. And another thing. Why the sudden moderator editing? For ages the jokes could have been considered sexist - bot towards women and men, didn't see any PC moderator editing then. In fact most jokes are going to have to be banned then. |

SurferJoe, this is the non-PC part of the PC forum, as such it is apparently frowned upon to post un-PC jokes (meaning not computer related or non-PC), unless you are of course of the same race or gender as those who you poke fun at and own the same clapped out Dell that blows up on cue. I hope that clarifies things :thumbs: |
