711883 2008-10-13 00:44:00 Hello,
I have a computer that boots - without any visible icons or taskbar.
I have run a virus scan (AVAST) nothing detected and
CCleaner from the Ctrl+Alt+Del --> New Task with out any change.
I also did a repair install of WinXP --> no change
Could someone review the HJT log:

Uninstall AVG or Avast, you dont need both

Did you reinstall System restore on this or something from somewhere?

After you tick the above and reboot use trojan remover, update it then scan. Then select all options under utilities

711885 2008-10-13 01:33:00 I was not able to Disable system restore because icons weren't visible
same with uninstalling AVG or Avast.

Did you reinstall System restore on this or something from somewhere?
- yes - did a repair install of WinXP

After you tick the above and reboot: no change -- still can not see any icons or the taskbar; the start menu won't activate...

further suggestions
