| 712753 | 2008-10-17 01:29:00 | Really screwed up time. Trying to re-size the HDD using Partition Magic and I think I have asked it to re-size a partition to greater than the capacity available. The re-sizing went into a loop and then hibernation activated. Now it gets a short way through loading Vista and then goes into a black screen. Booting into safe mode and it will scroll through some of the files and then lock up. I think I have moved some essential files and the only option will be to re-install Vista. So my question is: How do I get it on bootup to look at the CD and initiate a reinstall ? |

Once in the BIOS, make sure its set to boot from the optical drive first. Put the DVD in the drive, start the PC, when the message comes up Press any key to boot from Cd/DVD - press any key - space bar is always good - Boot from the Vista DVD - Select your country, press next, on the next screen down the bottom left select Repair Your Computer , Click next - from the next window select your install / Next and on the following window select the top Option Startup Repair - Follow instructions through - if it can fix it , it may take a while, touch nothing until it tells you to. |
