489474 2006-10-06 02:06:00 I have just experienced the best service I have ever had from an internet sales source, or just about anywhere I can think of for that matter.

I bought two Lithium batteries from Flashcards.co.nz for my Fuji F610 digital camera (PF1 prize a few years back, thanks guys) and in a rather blonde moment ordered the wrong type. I emailed for an RMA, it was emailed back before I could blink with a polite note attached explaining the process and how my visa card would be credited.

I was cautiously optimistic at this stage and sent the two batteries back, but before I knew it, I was notified that my prior payment had been credited back to my account.

Flashcards are in Christchurch but the original batteries arrived within 24 hours. That was pretty quick, but I ordered the replacement some time after lunch and it arrived yesterday morning before I'd even had breakfast.

But that's nothing........here's where the service really takes off: The new battery was dead as a dodo (wouldn't accept a charge), so with some trepidation I emailed Flashcards again and requested another RMA.

Bugger me if I don't get yet another email back in two twitches of a dead lamb's tail. This is what it said:

We will send you a new battery, in fact would you mind if I sent you 2 units? If the 2 we send you are faulty we will pull the rest of the batch. If they are ok, then we will let you have the second battery for free. Just want to reiterate that we want happy customers, I hope that this will make you happy. Please reply back to me when you have the 2 new units, they are shipping out today.

Thankyou
Best regards

Now, that kind of service is simply fantastic, and if all retailers took that approach to their customers the Consumer Guarantees Act would fade away into history

I don't give praise lightly, but Flashcards (and Daniel) are utterly amazing. Long may they prosper, and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

First company ever to get Billy's prestigious "Three Thumbs" award.

Cheers

489476 2006-10-06 08:58:00 They have been in business for some time and I have made several orders off them and every single tiime I have received excellent service. I would thoroughly recommend them. Tukapa (62)
489477 2006-10-07 01:40:00 Well, they are as good as their word. Two batteries arrived this morning (before breakfast) and both are good. Also included was a prepaid CourierPost Trakpak bag to return the dud battery. The dead one was obviously just an aberration (probably made by Sony :D) so my pleasant experience has an even happier ending.

I am deadly serious about my recommendation too, from our email correspondence I can tell you that their response is no "flash in the pan" thing, it is part of their corporate philosophy and I can only commend them for it. If you buy from Flashcards you can expect the same levels of service and courtesy that I have enjoyed. I will buy from them by preference in future, with price being secondary.

How many times has the sweetness of a low price been soured by service problems with delivery or when things go wrong? The Super-Cheap PC saga is ample evidence that price is not everything, in fact it is a relatively minor part of the equation in my opinion.

First and foremost you want a product with the right specs, secondly you want it to actually arrive in a timely fashion, thirdly you want it to be per the seller's description, fourthly you want it to work, fifthly you want the right response from the seller if it doesn't work, and last of all comes a few cents or dollars here and there on the price.

Think about it.

489478 2006-10-07 03:40:00 Not that their prices could be considered expensive in any case!!

I am with you Billy T - I make all my purchases through them now for the relevant hardware.

489479 2006-10-07 04:47:00 Another thumbs up for this company from me. Brought an SD card and camera battery from them and they were at least 15% cheaper than anywhere else (including directly from the manufacturer!). Got my items the day after the money went through.

Why can't all companies be like this?

489480 2006-10-07 09:23:00 It's great to hear news of good service, those who give service deserve to be recognised! Bravo Billy and well done Flashcards. Jester (13)
489481 2007-05-10 21:45:00 Unbelievably, but 100% in keeping with this Company's business ethic, I have a further example of outstanding service to report.

The two batteries supplied in the tale above seemed to work fine for quite a while but almost simultaneously, both developed faults. Charge life shortened dramatically, then while running the camera in movie mode they ran flat very quickly and began to overheat. This also made the cases swell and they were difficult to extract from the camera.

I reported this back to Flashcards and received a prompt reply to the effect that my problem confirmed suspicions they had felt about the batteries/supplier and that they had already located an alternative source.

They offered me a further replacement (which arrived by courier this morning) and a full refund of my original purchase price. While the latter would not make good business sense on a wider scale, and simple replacement would have been adequate, nevertheless as a gesture acknowledging the toing and froing and the feedback given, it was hugely appreciated and makes the effort worthwhile for both parties.

Failure to address (or even acknowledge) legitimate problems has led to many a fully-justified ***** session on this Forum and who knows how much business those companies lost as a result. Super Cheap PC stands out as a classic example.

Flashcards' approach should earn them a front row seat in E-tailer heaven, and they are working proof of the old adage that price isn't everything. Three-Thumbs just isn't enough for this team. If what you want is in their inventory, buy it from them by preference even if it costs you a few dollars more. You will never regret it.

Cheers
