489025 2006-10-04 01:02:00 As some may remember I dismissed the movie as fluff, Easy to watch and enjoyable enough but failing to show more then he worked on his own bike, broke a record (or 10) and he was mad as a hatter.

Anyhow, I have just finished reading his life story, covering day one through to deaths door....and it KICKED MY FREAKIN ARSE.

So, This must be Metla's Book of the month.

One Good Run-The Legend of Burt Munro

I wont say much more about it, Though I struggled through the last couple of pages.

READ IT.

Was that because the words were to big or you ran out of tissues:blush:

Sounds like it would be an interesting read, where do you find time to read a book without getting disturbed

489027 2006-10-04 03:27:00 Nah, My idea of struggle is to mutter "bugger",

and if you must know, I sit on the bog till 3am reading, Much more comfortable now I had some heat lamps installed, Now for the cushion seat.

Actually, Im crook as an old dog at the moment, Seemed to have turned into a hard pumping snot machine

489028 2006-10-04 04:30:00 Hey Mets, they DO make heated bog seats - a friend had one, imported from Japan where it is supposed to be fairly normal. Also heard there are cushioned seats. Assume you also have at least an AM/FM radio there as well.

Thanks for the book suggestion. Gotta get it. Library perhaps...

Heat lamps? Ye gods... worse than a ****, next thing you know he'll be wanting a woman who does things in the kitchen !

Edit... seems the expletive checker is working overtime... the **** is from my location. I proud now to be considered a swear word.

489030 2006-10-04 05:48:00 New books are bloody expensive. I usually wait until the warehouse has a big book sale - you can find really good books for way less than you would usually pay for them in those sales. Greven (91)

Jeez Metla, sit there that long and people will start thinking you must be full of 'it. Mind you, it's a haven of peace for a man who wants a quiet read.

Getting rid of the longdrop did much to increase the literacy of our fair nation. :D

489033 2006-10-04 08:18:00 Yes, well, I had been gathering resources and making cunning plans in order to purchase a Harley for summer, somewhere along the way I was blind-sided and we ended up instead spending 10 grand fitting out a bathroom that happens to be the size of a broom cupboard.

Now I have to get my monies worth.

Mrs Metla seems happy, Im just saving up my disapointment for my mid-life crsis.

Muhahahahahahaha.

489034 2006-10-04 08:33:00 Ta for the recommendation. I doubt I'd buy it though - I read up on the fella fairly large some time ago by trawling the Internet.

As for the movie - I still reckon it's a must-see for any Kiwi, nevermind the fact that it's got a fair bit of story license to it.
