489036 2006-10-05 20:32:00 So as to take advantage of new bog,it maybe a good idea to start the book of the month club. Cicero (40)
489037 2006-10-05 21:00:00 The movie might not have been as good as it could have been, but it shows NZ history and one mans dream and how you can achieve it, it has a very strong message in the film, and for that reason it is worth watching

As for the book, I didn't know, I must go and have a read :D

489038 2006-10-05 22:17:00 Oooh, and I have been moaning about the lack of books to read as well. I have run out of Terry Pratchett books for the moment (eheh... Discworld series... so cool. I have read the whole series about 3 times) mejobloggs (264)
489039 2006-10-06 01:11:00 Would this be of a similar story line as that guy John Britten?

i have seen the movie of fastest indian and even tho i liked it, it was long . . . . . . . . . . . maybe the book would be a better option .

489040 2006-10-06 01:21:00 well, It depends if your interested in reading detail about the modifications he done to his engine and detail about his 40 years of racing before the point where the movie started.

Lots of low tech, Genius engenerring ability and destroyed engines

Also one of the high-ponts of the book was pretty indepth coverage of the people, cars, and runs at the various Speed weeks Burt attended in the states.

Lots of high tech gear, crazy mofo's and sudden horrible death.

The one where the guys fuel leaked into the back of his car, then rushed foward and filled the cockpit as he pulled into the pits, caught fire and burnt him alive (with invisble flames no less) while his crew stood around the car waiting for him to get out was a bit of a surprise.

And near every paragraph in the second part of the book finishes with Burt blowing his engine to pieces.
