488528 2006-10-03 02:50:00 EPG = Electronic Programming Guide.

It's basically TV listings, with additional information (like description, ratings etc.) in a format which is "generic" - I think it uses XML - which works with stuff like Windows Media Centre, and other TiVo style boxes. This means that in Windows Media Centre, you can browse the TV listings, which will be integrated into the software in such a way that you can do cool things like schedule to record every episode of The Simpsons (for example) for the next 3 weeks.

At the moment, EPG data is "copyrighted" in New Zealand, so while Sky has one for their MySky service, it is illegal (and not easy) for others to get access to it, and to use it. Likewise, NZ law states that things like TV listings on people's websites are copyrighted, so it is illegal to have programs which crawl websites to "steal" information. In the USA this is not the case.
